St. Patrick’s B.N.S. Hollypark
Dear Parents,
Into our second week back and it’s as if we were never away. The boys have settled back very well into their routines. Please encourage your son with the presentation of his work and of himself. Copies in particular need to be covered – as these items get such regular use. Most classes from 1st to 6th have all copies covered and all the required equipment.
Homework notebooks need to be signed, reading logs filled in (1st to 6th) and fitness recorded (the boys /parents write the physical activity they did on that day) every night. These are great habits for the boys to develop. Great efforts are being made by the boys, with other elements of our September focus - giving eye - contact, being cheerful, and using people’s names!
Fun Books for 1st classes began with me this week. I’m really looking forward to working with this group this year. I will miss my fun book boys of last year! Ms Ní Gabhann/Mrs Healy and Ms Breathnach will have the pleasure of doing fun books with 2nd classes this year.
Our Junior Infants are very well settled – we are all very impressed with them! They are so good that they celebrated ‘Independence Day’ within one week. All Junior Infants now come in ‘on their own’ - from their entrance door and their teachers bring their boys out to the Junior Infant pick-up point.
A reminder: All other boys come in on their own from their entrance door. Some boys seem to have forgotten!
From Tomorrow Thursday 14th September, Junior Infants will be staying in school for the full infant day. (up to 1.25p.m.)
There is much excitement with training at lunchtimes these days. We have many Gaelic football teams again this year, at both Junior and Senior level, thanks to our wonderful teachers who give of their time, expertise and enthusiasm for the sport. So many boys are given the opportunity to wear the school jersey! Thanks to Mr. O Donovan, Mr. McEvoy, Mr. Mitchell, Mr. Cunnane, Mrs O Callaghan, Mr. Molyneux, Ms O Flynn, Ms Costello, Ms Feighan and Maurice from Kilmacud Crokes.
Well done to our Senior A team, who had a great win already this year – last Thursday against Scoil San Treasa. Well done to our Junior B team who had an impressive win in Meadowvale yesterday. Good luck to our Senior A and Senior B1, who will play their first league match on Thursday. Well done to U10 hurlers from Kilmacud Crokes who won the annual Craughwell Hurling Tournament in Galway last Sunday. Well done to Conor Coogan, Andrew McGorrian, Ronan Mcnamara, Jonathan Axelsson and Odhran Thompson who were part of the winning team. Well done to Jack Keenan, who won an impressive tennis tournament and trophy recently in Meadowvale at U 10.
Frása na Seachtaine: Bí ag rith. Bí aclaí.

There is a new Primary Oral language Curriculum. We are now implementing it in our school. Oral language is fundamental to reading, comprehension and writing. Please take the time everyday to engage in conversation.
Please look up this PDST Physical Literacy link –scoilnet.ie/pdst/physlit. There is much you can do to support the fundamental movement work going on in school this year in all classes. The videos in particular are making an impression on our boys.
