Greeting

Leader: In the name of the Father

and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Others:Amen

Leader: Sisters and brothers,

God invites us to hear his Word

and to share in the Body of Christ.

Let us bless him for his goodness.

Blessed be God for ever.

Others:Blessed be God for ever.

Introduction

Leader:We gather today to celebrate the Lord’s Day.

Our parish priest is unable to be with us.

Although diminished as a community,

we are still, “one with our sisters and brothers

and with the entire Church”.

Let us now listen to God’s Word, join in prayer,

and in Eucharistic communion.

As we come together to pray this day,

let us first ask God to pardon and forgive us

for any of our sins.

Leader:Together we pray…

All:I confess to almighty God

and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done
and in what I have failed to do,
through my fault, †
through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Leader:Lord have mercy.

Others:Lord have mercy.

Leader:Christ have mercy.

Others:Christ have mercy.

Leader:Lord have mercy.

Others:Lord have mercy.

Opening Prayer

Leader:Let us pray,

All pray silently for a moment.

The “Collect” prayer of the particular day is then used from the Roman Missal.

Liturgy of the Word

After the Opening Prayer, the Prayer Leader returns to the front pew.

For the entire Liturgy of the Word, the Lectionary is used, while the Book of the Gospels remains enthroned.

The Lector comes to the ambo for the 1st Reading. Psalm is either sung or recited. Lector II reads the 2nd Reading and returns to the pew. If there is music, the gospel acclamation is sung as the people rise and the Prayer Leader goes to the ambo.

Leader:A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to …

at the conclusion of the Gospel, introduce a moment of silence, or brief meditation, and return to sit with the other ministers.

After a meditation period, the Prayer Leader returns to the ambo:

[Dismissal of Catechumen/s]

[If there are catechumens to be dismissed, the Prayer Leader calls them forward and entreats them:

Leader:I invite our catechumen/s to come forward,

with a minister of catechesis.

My dear friends,

this community now sends you forth

to reflect more deeply upon the Word of God

which you have shared with us today.

Be assured of our loving support and prayers for you.

We look forward to the day

whenyou will share fully in the Lord’s banquet.

Go in peace, and may the Lord remain with you. ]

Profession of Faith

Leader:Let us stand as we profess our faith …

All:I believe in God,

the Father almighty,

Creator of heaven and earth,

and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,

At the words that follow, up to and including the Virgin Mary, all make a profound bow.

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died and was buried;

he descended into hell;

on the third day he rose again from the dead;

he ascended into heaven,

and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;

from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and life everlasting.

Amen.

Universal Prayer (Prayer of the Faithful)

After the Creed, the Prayer Leader introduces the Prayer of the Faithful. Read the opening prayer and then stand back for the Lector to come forward and read the petitions. When the lector finishes the petitions, the Prayer Leader concludes the intercessions.

Leader:In Jesus we have a great high priest

who is able to intercede for us.

Let us confidently approach our Heavenly Father,

with these prayers and needs.

Petitions from the following page are read by the lector

Leader:Lord God,

hear the prayers of your people

who call out to you in faith.

Help us to always remain faithful to you

in wordand action.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Petitions for the Universal Prayer (Prayer of the Faithful)

We pray for the Church throughout the world,

for Benedict the 16th, our Holy Father,

for Howard Hubbard, our bishop,

for our priests, deacons and all who minister in the Church,

may they lead us in the example of Jesus,

seeking to serve the needs of others.

We pray to the Lord.

For all who exercise authority and leadership in the world,

for our civil and government officials,

may they lead us in acts of justice and peace.

We pray to the Lord.

For our sisters & brothers who are sick or hospitalized:

that the comfort of God might embrace them,

and our care for them may lighten their suffering.

We pray to the Lord.

For peace in our world and for all the prayers and petitions

we bring in our own hearts this day.

We pray to the Lord.

Let us pray for vocations:

maythe Lord God raise more young people

to serve us in the life of the Church, especially as holy priests.

We pray to the Lord.

For the Faithful Departed,

(and for those who died this week, ______), may they know the fullness of God's glory;

and share in the promise of eternal life.

We pray to the Lord.

Preparation for the Communion Rite

Leader:At this time,

hospitality ministers will receive your offerings for the Church.

After the collection, the altar candles are lit, and the altar is dressed. Several Eucharistic Ministers bring other empty vessels and place them on the side of the altar.

The Prayer Leader & Eucharistic Ministers go to the altar. One of the Eucharistic Ministers brings the Eucharist in the ciborium from the tabernacle and places it on the altar, genuflects and takes his/her place with the other ministers in the sanctuary. The Prayer Leader approaches the altar

Lord’s Prayer

Leader:Please stand as we pray together

the words our Savior gave to us:

All:Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgivethose who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliverus from evil.

Sign of Peace

Leader:In the love of Christ,

let us offer one another a sign of peace.

Invitation to Communion

The Prayer Leader genuflects and then, taking a host from the ciborium, raises it slightly over the ciborium which remains upon the altar, and says:

Leader:Behold the Lamb of God.

Behold him who takes away the sinsof the world.

Blessed are those called to the Supper of the Lamb.

All:Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof,

but only saythe word and my soul shall be healed.

Leader:May the Body and Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ,

bring us all to everlasting life.

The Prayer Leader then consumes the Body of Christ and distributes to the remaining ministers and distributes sacred hosts into the various other vessels to be used to distribute Holy Communion to the faithful.

At the conclusion of the faithful reception of Holy Communion all remaining sacred hosts are returned to the altar, returned into the ciborium by one of the ministers and returned to the tabernacle. All other empty vessels are then returned to the credence table.
