SUSTAINABLE BUILDING OPERATIONS

This program of study is focused towards training of students in sustainable methods for improving the operational performance of offices, schools, hospitals, and other residential and commercial buildings while working as Building Commissioning Professionals, Operations Professionals, Facility Managers and supporting positions. Students may continue with four year programs in Civil Engineering Construction Management, such as offered at CSULB and programs at other four year colleges such as CalPoly offer.

Administrative Facilities Management & supportpositions!

This program of study provides students exploration and proficiency of the knowledge and skills that arefundamental building blocks in managing facilities sustainably. Working with drawings, learning fundamentals of construction, accounting and codes that regulate sustainable management of facilities and projects provides preparation for further study or for workand advancing career opportunities.Career opportunities include employment in “green” building, design and construction, energy management, and sustainable publicplanning and policy development. Work is available in government agencies, consulting firms, construction, and non-profitorganizations.

Facilities, Operation Manager, and related work:

Salary mean wage in CA range widely with experience and education. Laborers are at low end, management at higher end. $42,100 – $108,240/yr.

This includes work related to constructing new green buildings, retrofitting residential and commercial buildings, managing, evaluating, and installing sustainable building construction technology. It includes Energy Efficiency: activities related to increasing energy efficiency

Transfer Students:

It is imperative that such students check with their intended transfer institutes regarding General Education and other requirements. Many four year programs do not require the IGETC pattern for transfer.
