Project Coordinator – SNAP Nutrition Education

MCD Public Health, a division of Medical Care Development, Inc., a not-for-profit health services organization in collaboration with Healthy Communities of the Capital Area (HCCA), is accepting applications for a public health project management position for SNAP-Ed (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education). The Project Coordinator is responsible for implementing the Healthy Maine Partnership SNAP-Ed work plan by coordinating and delivering nutrition education services to people eligible for SNAP, according to USDA SNAP-Ed and Maine DHHS approved guidelines throughout all the towns of the Local Service Area (LSA). The SNAP-Ed Project Coordinator provides direct education, detailed documentation and record keeping, outreach and engagement, and serves as the leader among HCCA’s team of SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educators. We are searching for an energetic, flexible, and detail-oriented candidate with a conscientious work style. This full-time, 40 hour per week position is eligible for MCD’s benefit package.

The Project Coordinator position is located at the HCCA office in Gardiner and is a 4-year, grant-funded position with 1.5 years remaining and potential for renewal. This position requires a person with both a keen attention to detail and follow through as well as the ability to educate and facilitate groups of all ages and assure that grant deliverables and expectations, including evaluation and data collection requirements are met.

Competencies among successful candidates are expected to be consistent with those identified by the Public Health Foundation Council on Linkages as Level II. This position requires flexibility and the ability to manage time and multiple tasks with little supervision. As this position will be traveling, a valid Maine driver’s license and reliable transportation are necessary.

Successful applicants will be energetic, self-starters who are able to function comfortably in a team environment or independently and relate well to co-workers, health care providers, organizations, and the public. A Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, community health, education, or health-related field is required and three to five years of experience, Registered Dietitian, Masters of Education, and/or Masters of Public Health degree; plus project management and coordination experience is preferred. Exceptional writing, interpersonal communication skills, and demonstrated cultural competence are essential.
