5.  Create or Modify an OCE (Open Catalog Extension) Connection File

Download a default.oce file from the directory “3. Default Connection File”.

Copy and paste the file default.oce to the directory

G. Make sure to check Allow Change Database at Logon, Click on Next

H. Click on Finish.

I. Click on Yes

J.  Click on Save to save it in C:\ProgramFiles\Brio\Brio8\Client\Program\OpenCatalogExtensions

Click Yes to save the default.oce or click No if you want to name something different, for example, Student.oce.

NOTE: If you do save the file with a name other than “default.oce” there will be an extra step if you exchange query files with other people. Hyperion looks for the oce file name used the last time the query was saved. If someone sends you a file that uses default.oce, when you process it the query will not be able to find default.oce. It will give you an error message and you will have to click the Select button and select an oce file of yours to use instead. The same thing will happen if you send a query to someone else.

This is the end of the process that is used to modify an oce connection file. Now when you start up Hyperion, to build a new query (when at the Welcome box) click the upper Browse button and select default.oce (or other name). It will usually be in C:\ProgramFiles\Brio\Brio8\Client\Program\OpenCatalogExtensions. Then click OK.

The login box comes up, enter your User ID and Password and click OK.

Click on the Tables icon in the bottom left frame and HAPPY QUERYING! After you browse to the default.oce once, it will stay in the oce box and you can just double click on it to bring up the login box.
