Description:The Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award annually celebrates and recognizes college football coaches for their success and achievements both on and off the field of play. These coaches embody sportsmanship, integrity, responsibility and excellence while offering selfless support to their communities, and ensuring that their student-athletes prosper in the classroom.
Since 2006, Liberty Mutual has donated more than $1.8 million in support and scholarship to more than 100 charities and college alumni associations on behalf of its Coach of the Year Award winners.
Voting:Fans can celebrate their coach by visiting CoachoftheYear.com – on their PC, tablet or mobile device – and submitting their Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year vote. Fans can also vote and engage with content from this year’s award at Liberty Mutual’s Coach of the Year page on Facebook.
Timeline:September 24-December 3: Fans can visit CoachoftheYear.com to submit their Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year vote. Fans can also join the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year community on Facebook to enjoy a wide variety of content featuring college football coaches.
December 10: Finalists are announced in conjunction with the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame Class of 2013 induction in New York City
December 10-22: Fans can vote daily for a finalist in each division at CoachOfTheYear.com
Votes are also cast by two select panels – one representing the College Football Hall of Fame and one comprised of select members of the media
Winners are ultimately determined using the following voting weight: Fans 20%, College Football Hall of Fame 55%, and Media 25%
January 6: The 2013 Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award winners are announced in advance of the BCS championship game in California
Award:Each of the four winning coaches, one from each division, receives $50,000 to support civic and charitable activities and a $20,000 scholarship donation to his school’s alumni association as well as a personalized Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year trophy, the original of which is on permanent display at the College Football Hall of Fame.
