From Limoges airport, follow the signs to Toulouse and get onto the A20 to Toulouse. This is a motorway.

This takes you past the city of Limoges. After about 45 minutes to an hour on this motorway you will go past the signs to Tulle. I can’t remember which number this junction is BUT BE ALERT AT THIS STAGE AND LOOK OUT FOR Junction 46. VERY QUICKLY after Junction 46 is JUNCTION 46.1 where you have to TURN OFF SIGN POSTED TO CLERMONT FERRAND ON THE A89.

DON’T TURN OFF AT JUNCTION 46 BUT AT 46.1…IT COMES VERY QUICKLY AFTER JUNCTION 46 SO WATCH OUT!! We have missed it ourselves on a number of occasions.

Continue towards Clermont Ferrand on the A89 past Tulle on your right (ignore the signs to Tulle Centre) and take Junction 21 sign posted to Tulle Est and Argentat (also Aurillac and Beaulieu sur Dordogne).

Following along this road for about 5 miles there are 2 or 3 turn-offs to Tulle and Tulle centre. Ignore these and wait for the sign to Tulle Est, Aurillac, Argentat and Beaulieu sur Dordogne. This leads to a T-junction where you turn left to Argentat, Aurillac and Beaulieu sur Dordogne.

From Argentat, follow the signs to St Privat. From St Privat, follow the signs to Lac de Feyt, passing the large Spar supermarket on your right (not to be confused with another small Spar supermarket in the village).

There is a T-junction just past the supermarket. Go straight over this and

continue straight on for approx 3 kilometres when you will see a bus stand on your right and a sign indicating Cautine. Turn left here and a few hundred yards beyond this junction there is a sign saying Cautine and the road divides. Take the left fork which states ‘Propiete Privee’ on a red sign. Go past a barn and a little cottage opposite and the white gates of the chateau are at the end of this road.

Park you car at the white gate and go through the gates into the front garden of the chateau. The building on the right (the chateau is on your left) is where the caretakers live. They are the second door from the gate so if they don’t come out when you arrive, just go and knock on that door.

FROM CHATEAU TO LIMOGE

this is very straightforwards and takes about 2.5 hours

D980 to Argentat: 18km

D1120 to Tulle: 26km

Continue on D1120 through Naves until you join A20 at junction 45: 20km

A20 until junction 28, sign posted Bellgarde: 90km

N520 to the airport: 12 km

If they look at via michelin france and enter the following coordinates they will see a very similar route except this one takes the A89 motorway straight after Tulle towards Brive instead of continuing on the D1120
