Role title: Social Media Volunteer
Woodcraft Folk provides an informal and supportive environment for young people to develop their ideas, share experiences, explore opportunities and make life-long friends locally and beyond.Weekly groups are held in Bruntsfield, Newhaven and Portoblello where a varied programme of activities take place like, night walks, arts & crafts, bonfires, discussion activity around global issues and singing!
Woodcraft Folk is a national organisation with international links to the global community. In Edinburgh we are looking for a Social Media Volunteer to join our District Committee. We need an enthusiastic and motivated individual interested in helping young people become confident and active, to build a world based on equality, peace, justice and co-operation.
The role
Woodcraft folk want to increase their online presence to ensure that people in Edinburgh know about what we do and how they can get involved.
Tasks & responsibilities:
Generate, edit, publish and share weekly content that builds meaningful connections and an online Edinburgh Woodcraft presence.
Collecting and sharing photos from across the Edinburgh groups
Share woodcraft resources and news online.
Link with a diverse mix of community organisations across Edinburgh by responding to their posts and sharing events.
Linking districts and connecting with the wider UK Woodcraft.
Make improvements by capturing and analysing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information.
Attending District Committee meetings (4 times a year)

Support & training
You will be fully supported by the Development Officer and Edinburgh District Committee with regular one to ones with the Development Officer throughout the year (the frequency of these will be agreed when you start and reviewed during the year).

Hours
About 3 hours per week, ideally committing to 12 months
Skills & attributes
We are looking for someone who likes working cooperatively, enjoys the outdoors and has some experience of volunteering would be great.
And not forgetting!
You will be homebased and out and about across Edinburgh.
Your own car is not essential but access to vehicle/good transport links would be an advantage.
We pay volunteers’ “out-of-pocket” expenses within agreed guidelines.
