Fahrenheit 451 Design Project


Directions: After reading Fahrenheit 451 Part II: The Sieve and the Sand, create a design project using textual evidence and present your design to the class (3-5 minutes). You may complete either a costume, set, or light design. You MUST tie your design ideas to the text i.e. if the time of day is morning what does the light look like? What would the character wear if the weather were cold?

PROJECT CHOICES

Costume Design: Create a costume design for two characters. You may choose

a. Create a drawn costume rendering for a minimum of two characters.

b. Create a presentation (using Google slides etc.) of costume ideas for at least two characters, using a minimum of five images (slides) for each character (10 images/slides total).

Set Design: Create a set design for one “scene.” Include large pieces such as furniture. You may choose
a. Create a 3D model

b. Create a labeled ground plan

c. Create a presentation (using Google slides etc.) with a minimum of ten images/slides that illustrate the look of your scene design. Be able to explain any large pieces (such as furniture), and where they go in your design.

Light Design: Create a presentation (using Google slides etc.) with a minimum of ten images/slides addressing light in the scene chosen. Address

1.  Light direction (front/side/back)

2.  Light quality (hard/soft )

3.  Light color (warm/cold)

Address the time of day and year for your light design (drawn from text).

Address any special lighting elements in your scene i.e. the mechanical dog’s eyes, a lamp, or the T.V. etc.
