Introduction to the Cold War
The Cold War is defined as tensions between the United States and Soviet Union from 1947 – 1990.
Definition of the Task
1. You and your group members will be assigned one of the following topics to research: ‘Communism’, ‘The Korean War’, ‘The Vietnam War’, ‘Bay of Pigs Invasion’, ‘Cuban Missile Crisis’, ‘Arms race’, ‘Space race’
2.- As a group you will produce and present a multimedia presentation for the class using Microsoft PowerPoint or a TRI-Fold Poster board Presentation. - You will also create an assessment activity for determining how well students understand what you taught (quiz, test, questions, class discussion, worksheet, etc.)
3. Establish roles for each member: You may combine and share roles if necessary.
4. Research using library resources for information related to your Cold War topic.
5. Include pictures, maps, and/or diagrams to help better understand your topic.
Project Evaluation

2. Is your work supported by accurate research?
3. Does your multimedia project and assessment toolmeet the project criteria?
4. Did you fully answer all of the questions posed under your topic heading?

While working on your presentation you will save it to your student folder. I also recommend saving to another location (ex; your flash drive). When the presentation is complete, you will save it to the Class Period folder for your class on the common drive.
Conclusion
The Cold War put the world close to the brink of extinction on more than one occasion. People around the world knew that it all could come to an end with a blinding flash of light. Hundreds of thousands of lives were lost trying to protect national interests, even though the two sides did not "directly" fight.
It is your job to report on the issues that made the Cold War one of the most tensioned filled periods of the 20th century.
