Item 2 – MW confirmed that arrangements were in place for the minutes of RSC and CRSC meetings to be available to the Parish Councils. SW suggested that Parish Councils add RSC as an agenda item at future meetings to raise awareness of road safety issues.
Item 3 – Issues regarding the attendance of Highways Engineer referred to Cllr. Kendal (would necessitate change to terms of reference). MS advised that he would be able to answer any issues relating to engineering or would be able to seek clarification from other officers if the need arose.
Item 5 – Facebook - MS advised “StreetSense” being put forward at meeting with Cllr. Kendal pm 10 May.
Item 5 – Reminder that Junior Road Safety Officer – Champion of Champions taking place on 27 June 2012. PW and CC had judged entries. SW asked to look through entries, KD advised these were held at Capital House. SW to liaise with KD to arrange convenient date/time. / SW/KD
3 / Meeting attendance and Membership
Attendance at meetings in the three areas had declined with representation from the various interest groups sporadic. KD to draft letter to be sent to existing members requesting confirmation of their continued support. Letters to be sent as from the specific area chairman to include terms of reference. Contact to be made with Association of Parishes – Parish Engagement event – Cllr Kendal keen to involve local parishes in Road Safety. PW/SW able to respond on issues likely to be raised by school governors. Annual Service Summary report to be sent to Schools Forum to include casualty reduction figures.
SW suggested membership be reviewed annually, to be added to the Terms of Reference / KD
North
§ New representative required from B&D – liaise with new membership following recent elections.
§ Negotiate with B&D regarding use of room – alternatively contact Basingstoke Community Centre.
§ CTC representative.
§ Equestrian representative (confirm current member still willing to attend).

4 / Frequency of Meetings
MS advised that resources were not available to increase the number of meetings held. PW suggested items for comment should be sent via email asking for response. Urgent matters to be sent to members for comment.
5 / Non road safety education issues
SW – vetting plans/applications to ensure adequate facilities available for those wishing to use cycles. SW had been in contact with Tim Wall on this item. CC advised that members of the RSC should make use of the contacts sheet that had previously been issued.
6 / Road Safety Presentations for future area meetings
MS advised 10-15 minute presentations would be held at future meetings (on a trial basis). The first presentation would be from Graham Mylward who leads on the older driver appraisal programme. PW thought it would be good PR if the chairman undertook the driver assessment. CC advised he had already undertaken the appraisal. All appraisals are undertaken in confidence. The Road Safety Team joined forces with Specsavers stores in Hampshire to promote regular eye tests and promote the Older Driver Appraisal scheme. / KD
SW – advised support received from large cycle shop in Fleet for the provision of cycle helmets.
MS – future topics for area meetings could include young drivers –PW highlighted work undertaken by Phil Lashbrook.
Bikeability – cycle training for schools.
7 / Street Sense Update
MS – StreetSense, email sent included drawings for speed reduction outside schools, these signs were now being produced.
8 / Date of next meeting
MW to arrange future meetings ensuring that they are where at all possible combined with other meetings to make best use of members time. / MW
