Trial bus service for Balaclava starting Monday 8th February for five days!
Linda Rayapen has been working very hard to get you all a bus service. We met with NTA representatives who visited the morcellement this month and they have agreed to put in place a TRIAL BUS SERVICE commencing MONDAY 8th FEBRUARY for a FIVE DAY period.
The bus will pick up passengers in Sirius Avenue junction with Colombe Street (near the bright yellow house) and will travel to Port Louis via Arsenal. If you don’t know where Sirius Avenue/Colombe Street is located you can download a map of the morcellement from the website on Click on the link: IN THE NEWS.
The NTA have made it very clear that the bus service must be used to its fullest extent. If it isn't they will withdraw the service.
All residents have been e-mailed as to the times of the buses. Some of you have replied, others haven’t so clearly we won’t be able to satisfy everyone. The feedback was relayed to Triolet Bus Service and they have come up with the following timetable:
8.15am - Arsenal to Balaclava Rs10
8.30am - Balaclava to Port Louis Rs24
3.30pm - Arsenal to Balaclava Rs10
3.45pm - Balaclava to Port Louis Rs24
4.30pm - Port Louis to Balaclava Rs24
A hard copy of the timetable will be delivered to your letter box by Linda Rayapen and all residents will receive a copy by e-mail.
Please pass on this information to everyone you know including maids, gardeners and your builders, those who don't have e-mail and any elderly persons on the morcellement - it has been a long struggle to get a bus service so let's work together and make it work so that the bus service becomes permanent!
Please contact Linda on 711 1586 if you need further clarification.

Welcome to new members: Rekhah Hazareesingh, Pere Gregoire, Daniel Ross, Karen Alexander, Jean Roland Boutanive and Thierry Pigeot.
Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 14th March at 10am at the Club House in Bounty Street. This is your opportunity to voice your concerns, tell us what’s bothering you and to elect a new committee. More details to follow.
Neighbourhood Watch Scheme Poster
Every resident has been sent a Neighbourhood Watch Poster, which can be printed out from your computer. Place the poster on your gate, wall or letterbox as this gives the morcellement a higher profile and a message to would-be criminals that they are being watched. It’s best to protect the sticker by laminating it (any library can do this for you for around R25). Do let your representative know if you have not received a poster and we’ll make sure you get one.
Bin your garbage for free!
In October 2007 over 600 free dustbins were distributed to every household in the Arsenal/Balaclava area on production of a voucher compliments of the District Council in conjunction with Arsenal Force Vive. Many of you collected your dustbin but others didn’t. Arsenal Force Vive tell us they still have a number of dustbins for collection. If you have not received a dustbin or are new to the morcellement and would like a dustbin please contact Daniel Mourat on 956 3088 with your name and address.
