GRAN MUTUAL WATER COMPANY - Report of the Board
Assessment Update:
Almost $550,000 has been raised. There are 37 lots or members that have paid in full. This is including $100,000 from MIK, which is half of their commitment of $200,000.
There are 23 lots or members where there has been no payment. Everyone else is on some kind of payment plan. The Board wanted to encourage the non-payers to make a payment plan with Gran Mutual, even 20 or 25 payments. The Board would not charge interest.
Because of the importance of water service, the law gives a mutual water company the responsibility to provide good water at required pressures for domestic use and fire needs. And the law gives the Board the responsibility to make sure all members share equally in the costs.
Thanks to everyone who has helped us reach this point.
Well Drilling:
We have a viable well. The test well, 12 inch diameter, is finished and logged. The log results and the well drilling report are done. The final diameter will be 21 inches. The well is 700 feet deep. The water level is 400 feet and there appears to be 3 zones of water bearing material in the 400 to 700 foot levels.
The driller started a few weeks ago and is boring out to the final size. Then the hole will be flushed and a 12 inch casing installed. Then the well driller surrounds the casing with gravel and seals the top with cement. Next we will install the pump and motors. When this is done and tested, we will know the production of this new well.
System Information:
The Board has limited outdoor summer irrigation. The need for this is because the morning use of water exceeds the well’s ability to keep up. We still are at this use level, but not for as many hours.
The Board appreciates the help of our members in changing their water use. As a result, we went through the summer with having any problems.
Construction Update:
The next step will be to install the pump and pump motor. This will be done by Durham Pump. The property adjacent to the well has been shaped into a large holding pond for the water pumped as the well is flushed. Questions can be directed to Durham Pump. (530 891-4821 ext. 123)
The well should be finished in a couple of months.
