Position: Socio-economic Expert for the USAID Smart Waters Project in Afghanistan

Location: Takhar, possibility of traveling to Kunduz (Markaz) and Kabul Afghanistan

The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) is looking for an Socio-economic expert to conduct a situational assessment and analysis on the socio-economic situation of Lower PanjSubbasin for the USAID Smart Waters Project in Afghanistan.

Responsibilities:

The tasks will include, but are not limited to the following:

-Conduct an assessment on social and economic situation of Lower PanjSubbasin from a perspective of IWRM principles

-Analyze the assessment conducted onsocial and economic situations of Lower Panfrom a perspective of IWRM principles

-Develop a time-implementation schedule on the due tasks for the period of assignment

-Provide draft report compatible to time-implementation schedule

-To present draft report on national and local meetings. Finalize the document based on the received comments.

Work Experience and Education

-A bachelor degree in social sciencesor any other related degree (master’s degree is preferable)

-At least three years of experience in the fields of social worksor any other related fields

Language Requirements:

-Advanced reading, writing, and speaking knowledge of Farsi-Dari

-Advanced writing and speaking knowledge of English

Other Requirements:

-Willing to travel to rural areas

-Perfect knowledge of MS. Office

-Good communication skills

-Able to work under timely stressed situations
