Friends of Deep Eddy (FODE)

25 May 2016

The Friends came together at the pool around 6:30 in the evening for our Annual Meeting on Wednesday 25 May 2016. Amongst those in attendance were Leon Barish, Maureen Coulehan, Heidi Gibbons, Paul Hamilton, Haley Moburg, Paul Bardagjy, Christine, Donnie Williamson, Laura Acklen, Vicki Tatum, Ben, Blake Tollett and Alex Nelson. There were others but I couldn’t put a name to their faces.

On the financial side, Maureen tells us we had around $38,197 to start the year. The Centennial raised $5,529 at the event with an additional $4,500 in sponsor money received so far (there is a chance we will also be receiving a $5,000 sponsorship donation from a similarly named spirit maker but no check has arrived so far). Regardless, we now have approximately $48 thousand in the bank. A question was asked as to what the Friends are going to do with this money, and the answer is that PARD occasionally needs help in meeting ongoing needs such as drilling or rehabilitating and repairing water wells that feed the pool. There is also our long-range plan of extending the walkway from the east side of the bathhouse veranda down to the pool. Financial statements along with the requisite IRS required submittals (Form 990) are available on our website.

We then turned to the election of Board of Director (BoD) members for 2016-2017 and for the election of officers.

By unanimous acclimation the following from the previous year’s BoD was reinstalled:

We welcomed to the Board:

Heidi Gibbons

The following graciously consented to continue on and were elected to be officers:

President: Leon Barish

Vice-President: Paul Bardagjy

Secretary: Blake Tollett

Treasurer: Maureen Coulehan

We then returned to discussing the Centennial. Somehow, we have left over 14 gift cards that we didn’t auction off. After lengthy discussions it was decided that Leon would send out an email to the FODE listserve announcing a donation drive. If you respond with a donation of $100 or more then you will be eligible for a drawing for the gift cards with the largest card, a dinner for two and Asti’s, going to the person making the largest donation.

We also have some Ann Ducote posters as well both Centennial and 2007 Rededication t-shirts that we need to place. Heidi and Christine volunteered to sell t-shirts during Deep Eddy Movie Night ($15 and $5 respectfully) and the Ducote posters will be given away free. Leon noted that Steve Hopson has put a link on our website (under News) to photographs he took at the party.

Leaving the Centennial, Paul B told us that the Art In Public Places (AIPP) project continues going forward with the anticipated placement of the feature at the trailhead above Eiler’s Park. Paul is going to see if the City folks and the artists will come meet with us at a special meeting in the near future to discuss this. He has seen a conceptual rendering and it is quite nice.

Having no further business to discuss, we adjourned.

Blake Tollett, Secretary
