Dear Ms.Vassar,

Re: The 2010-11 Four-Way Test Program

The Rotary Club of Hunt Valley James W. Houck Foundation, Inc., in partnership with Baltimore County Public Schools, welcome your school to the 2010-11 Four-Way Test Program. To make this enrichment program as ‘low-maintenance’ as possible, this kit includes all of the background information and materials needed to reinforce the timeless values it communicates to all students. In addition, all information is available online for download by teachers and parents.

We included a thorough description of the Four-Way Test in this tool kit, but it is important to explain, upfront, the four elements that have served as an ethics measuring stick worldwide by Rotary International. It asks individuals the following questions of what they think, say and do:

  • Is it the truth?
  • Is it fair to all concerned?
  • Will it build goodwill or better friendships?
  • Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Beyond the basics of the Four-Way Test and its history, this kit includes step-by-step instructions for promoting and executing the program for your school’s students.

Winning students will receive cash prizes for their efforts, and The Rotary Club of Hunt Valley will host the Four-Way Test Awards Ceremony near the end of the school year.

In addition, participating elementary schools are encouraged to include a “Get Caught” program to supplement the Four-Way Test. Students will be “called out” by administrators and teachers for exhibiting the positive qualities of the Four-Way Test in their daily routines. All additional instructions and collateral materials for this program are also included in this packet.

If you have questions about the Four-Way Test Program, please contact one of us at the addresses below. Thank you in advance for your support and participation!

Sincerely,

The Rotary Club of Hunt ValleyJames W. Houck Foundation, Inc.
