COMMANDANT’S STUDY DAY

3. All adults are to attend the Commandant’s Study Day on Sat 7 Mar 15 taking place 0900 – 1500 hrs, potentially at Lichfield but yet to be confirmed.

ID CARDS

4. All Officers and SNCOs are to ensure that their ID cards are in date and current. If not, they are to contact County HQ for renewal. All outdated ID cards are to be returned to County HQ when applying for a replacement. Do remember that ID cards are controlled documents and are to be included in all security instructions. Finally, all lost and stolen ID cards must be reported to County HQ and the relevant local police station.

PREGNANCY IN THE ACF

5. Any female member of the cadet force must inform her OC (or equivalent) in writing, that she is pregnant as soon as possible so that their OC, can fulfil their Duty of Care as well as Health and Safety responsibilities properly. This is then to be passed on to the Comdt for his information.

Having been formally notified of a pregnancy, the CoC is to ensure activities carried out within their area of responsibility which may pose a significant risk to a new or expectant mother and her baby are reviewed and that action is taken to minimise the potential for harm from those activities where appropriate (i.e. specific individual assessment). Although hazards are likely to remain constant, the identified risks to the mother and unborn child will vary during the different stages of the pregnancy as dexterity, agility, co-ordination, speed of movement and reach may be impaired.

COUNTY MANAGEMNENT OF ALCOHOL POLICY

6. In order to continue to promote positive behaviour to all young people and to ensure only a sensible consumption of alcohol within the ACF, all staff should be aware that:

a. Adult volunteers are not to consume or be under the influence of alcohol in the presence of cadets and particularly while conducting cadet activities. Furthermore, Adult volunteers are not to be under the influence of alcohol when they are attending an event in an official capacity representing the Army’s Cadets.

b. Adult volunteers are not to conduct activities whilst consuming or being under the influence of alcohol. This includes not supplying alcohol to cadets - nor permitting cadets to purchase alcohol themselves.

c. Note that cadets are not permitted to purchase, attempt to purchase, or consume alcohol, whilst on any cadet activity - regardless of their age.

Those cadets and adults, who fail to adhere to the County alcohol policy, will be subject to disciplinary action.

WI-FI INTERNET CONNECTION AT THE CFA

7. The wireless internet connection at the CFA is monitored by a commercial IT contractor, which in turn produces a monthly report on all attempts at access to Internet Sites. This includes those which personnel have tried to access improperly.

At present, it has been identified that there has been a number of attempts so far, to access banned websites. This practice is to cease immediately. All CFAVs and cadets are to be briefed on the rules relating to the correct use of ACF IT equipment, including personnel accessing the internet with their smart phones, IPads etc, via the ACF Wi-Fi system at the CFA. This applies to all MOD sites - and again, those cadets and adults who fail to adhere to the policy, will be subject to disciplinary action.
