Probability Assignment 1
“Make A Game”
Outcome: To demonstrate an application of probability.
To learn more about probability.
Tools: Paper, Scissors, Glue Stick, Colored pencils, Markers, Bristol Board, Box (Shoe box size), Dice, Spinners, Coins, Cards, Keys, Tickets, Board or Tally Chart.
Our needs:
· Playing pieces
· Rules (typed) – directions
· Colourful – Pretty / Fun
· What age?
· How many players?
· Look at other games for ideas
· Partners: Yes (maximum of three or on your own, with names listed alphabetically on the cover of the instructions)
· Play the game (test it) a minimum of ten (10) times. A record of scores/results/etc… including the theoretical probability of an event occurring.
Example:
P (1) = 1/6
P (2) = 1/6
P (3) = 1/6

Scoring Rubric
1. Creativity
0 – Boring / nothing on it. Black and White. Messy. Missing things. Unorganized.
1 – Not great. Some color but sloppy. Could be missing some things.
2 – More color. Not so messy. Some thought and care.
3 – Looks like a game from the store. Polished. Looks great. You really want to play it.
2. Instructions
0 – No instructions.
1 – Sat on. Drooled on. Spelling mistakes. Not typed or messy handwriting. Incomplete.
2 – Instructions are difficult to read and understand but complete.
3 – Typed. Complete. Clear. Colorful. Names of partners are clear.
3. Use of Probability
0 – Games does not have any winners or losers. Game
did not use probability.
1 – Game demonstrated experimental probability but no
theoretical probability is present.
2 – Game demonstrated both experimental and
theoretical probability but not correctly. Good
effort.
3 – Everything is there and correct.
