Letter from Mr. Gay Wisconsin
To my future contestants and promoters of 2017,
It has been a great honor to serve as your Mr. Gay Wisconsin USofA. In my life, I have always strived for greatness, and put my all into each and everything I do. It is my wish that each prospective contestant do the same, both in life and on the stage.
I am excited that this year we have gained many new promoters and new prelims. It shows that male entertainment is alive and well in the great state of Wisconsin.
It doesn’t matter if you are short, tall, fat, skinny, good looking or the average Joe…if you have a dream in your heart, I urge you to go for it, and strive for greatness. I am glad that we don’t all fit into a mold, and that each of us is unique. Our differences are what us special and important to the world of male entertainment.
Travelling the state during my reign, I am committed to helping those that want to start performing and competing do so with success. I want them to know how to mold their individual talents and make a brand that they themselves will be proud to put forward.
As I prepare to step down on July 22, 2017 at the new venue of FIVE Nightclub in Madison, Wisconsin, I am excited for the next brother to join the ranks of Wisconsin Royalty. You are stepping into a role that will change your life forever.
Should you have any questions or be interested in promoting a contest or competing in a contest; do not hesitate to contact me. You can also contact the current promoter Taylor Vaughn, or any of the prelim promoters.
It has been my honor,
Talon
Mr. Gay Wisconsin USofA 2016
Letter from the State Promoter
Hello Mr. Gay Wisconsin USofA Class of 2017…
I am pleased that you have decided on competing towards the goal of becoming the next Mr. Gay Wisconsin USofA. You will be joining an elite group of gentlemen that had the notion to follow a dream.
This year is another year of amazing change. There are new prelims, new promoters, new state venue, and an entirely new generation of male performers. It is like nothing I have ever witnessed in all my years in the entertainment business.
My goal is to have a contest that is fair, well organized and most of all fun. You will get out of it what you put into it. We want you to bring your best to the table. When preparing, think of the ultimate goal. Mr. Gay Wisconsin USofA (and first alternate) will be representing our state at the national contest in October. Your state package should reflect not only someone who is ready to lead our state, but also the nation.
Get out there and promote yourselves. While I have assembled some of the best preliminary promoters, they can only do so much. It is up to you to be visible throughout the state, and to perfect your craft every chance that you get.
As every year, we continue to make sure that the contest is the best as it can be, this year, the contest will be moved to the state’s capitol… Madison, WI and held at FIVE Nightclub. That’s right boys… our state location will be central to each and every one of you. I am excited to work with Dave Eick and the staff of Five to produce an amazing event. Finally, take note that State is being held earlier this year. It is our hope to move the contest back one month each year to give the winner and first alternate more time to prepare for nationals.
I am excited to see you all July 22, 2017 at Five Nightclub in Madison, Wisconsin. Until then, have fun and be your best!
Taylor Vaughn

Category Descriptions
Personal Interview -
Each contestant will be interviewed individually by the judging panel. The purpose of the Personal Interview in the USofA system is to allow the judges some insight into the character of each contestant. During the interview, the judges are also afforded the opportunity to evaluate each contestant's basic qualities, such as intelligence, ability to communicate, attitude, composure, etc. The judges may also gather information about a contestant's professional or personal life. The basic nature of the interview is intended to be casual and relaxed. You should dress as you would for a professional job interview. However, this is not a fashion category.
Club Wear -
In Club Wear, contestants should dress as they would for an exciting night out on the town. You should wear clothing that you would expect to see in a large club in one of the major cities in the USofA. Your Club Wear choice should match your personality, looks and lifestyle. Club Wear should NOT be a costume for stage, but rather what you would wear into the club. Club Wear should be fun and sexy. Club Wear is in between formal clothing and ultra-casual looks. A casual chic look that is both laid back and yet dressed up, is appropriate for this category. Contemporary looks are perfect, but a classic cool look (like a crisp white shirt and boot cut dark denim) fit in just as nicely. Wearing layers can also be used.
Club Wear includes a variety of items, including:
Unique and classic dress shirts,
Sexy and trendy tops,
FittedT-Shirts,
Bright Colors,
Embellished fabrics with stones or beads,
Metallic or metallic accents,
Out of the ordinary fabrics such as leather,
Funky prints and patterns,
Casual andskinny ties,
