WATBike - Guided leisure bike rides for December 2016

NOTE Wednesday rides will now start at 5pm

Sun 4th Dec / Cobalt / 0900 / Transport out to Dinnington, then a 45 mile circular taking in the two chunky climbs up the Ryals, cuppa at Maften and back to the bus and transport to Cobalt.
Wed 7th Dec / Blyth / 1700 / A steady tootle around local area with a cosy beer back at the Commissioners Quay in Blyth.
Sun 11th Dec / Cobalt / 0900 / Ride out to Clara Vale, climb to High Spen, down to Rowlands Gill, then back via Derwent Walk, lunch enroute at the Staithes café on the riverside. 40 miles.
Wed 14th Dec / Cobalt / 1700 / An evening of searching for Xmas lights around the urban areas of North Tyneside and Newcastle, with a beer on the return.
Sun 18th Dec / Cobalt / 0900 / Cycle out towards Durham and Crook area over 40+ miles, stopping for lunch enroute, then bus back around 2pm.
Wed 21st Dec / Cobalt / 1700 / Last night ride before Xmas. Raggy Heirlooms for pie and mulled wine. Pimp your bike up with Xmas lights. Bus back at 8pm. £10
Sun 25th / Xmas day ~ hope Santa is good to you.
Wed 28th Dec / Cobalt / 1000 / Note the later start, little lie in. An easy ride around South East Northumberland, with lunch at the Parlour café at Blagdon. Bring your new Xmas cycle toys.
Wed Jan 4th 2017 / Blyth / 1700 / First ride of 2017. Nice tootle around the coastal area with another visit to the quirky Luggage Room at Monkseaton.
Sun 8th Jan / Cobalt / 0900 / Heading over the dark side via the Shipwrights at South Hylton, then looping back past Team Valley and Newcastle. Around 35-40 miles.
Fri 20th Jan / Earsdon Community Centre / 1900 / WATBike annual night, celebration of 2016 ~ fun, frolics, food and awards etc. Only £5 per ticket, now available from Colin.

Meeting points:

a.  Blyth will be from the large car park by Coastline Chippy restaurant at South Beach.

b.  North Tyneside, Cobalt, will be Car Park opposite Village Hotel

c.  Quorum Business Park, (by Greggs shop) NE12 8FB

2.  No children under the age of 12

3.  Only “standard” bikes, no recumbent bikes, tandems or 3 wheelers on these rides. We may be able to do rides with these types of bike by request, just call us.

4.  Cost is £10 per head when bus is required, and only £5 if a circular ride-includes pick up from the designated point, transport by minibus from there or return, this includes a place on the trailer for your bike. Payment can be made on the day of the ride.

5.  A minimum of 8 riders are required to make each ride viable, if less than 8 we maintain the right to cancel and you will be offered a place on another ride.

6.  If you want any particular type/length of ride, or maybe wish to take in a certain event or location, then let us know and we can design something to suit you.

7.  These are leisure rides to be enjoyed; we want you to be able to appreciate some of the fabulous parts of the North East that you probably wouldn’t see from a car window. Fun, fresh air and gentle exercise! Each ride will have experienced guides to help you along, and in all cases there will be shortcuts should anyone find they are really struggling.

8.  We suggest bringing a water bottle, and some snacks to keep your energy levels up, and we always try and end where we can get drinks/snacks. Wearing of cycle helmets is advisory.

9.  All cyclists ride at their own risk, the Highway Code should be adhered to at all times. You are responsible for your own safety and should be aware at all times of other users of the roads and tracks.
