I am Margie Bookout and I am currently a business education teacher at Walker County Center of Technology in Jasper, Al. I also teach on-line classes through ACCESS for the University of Alabama. I have always been a very passionate supporter of career technical education and I am elated to see the changes that are happening in our state. It appears that our governor, legislators, and business and industry leaders in the state have finally begun to realize how vitally important CTE is to the future of our children and our country. This is a very exciting time for career tech in Alabama.

With this in mind I have weighed the pros and cons of running for the office of Alabama ACTE President-elect. After discussing it with my family and co-workers, I believe that I can make a positive difference in the lives of CTE teachers and students in our state. I want to be a strong advocate for CTE by promoting awareness and earning support from our leaders. I want to be the next ALACTE President-elect to continue the work that others have begun. I would like to ask you to consider voting for me.

With my extensive background and experience I can say that I am well qualified for the position and I am passionate about assuming the responsibility of representing Alabama career technical teachers when I am elected to this position. I am a collaborative, team-oriented leader as demonstrated by my roles as a teacher and a citizen in my community. I am a dedicated professional who visualizes the future and our children’s future in a globally-driven workforce. I understand the importance of communicating with the membership of ALACTE--listening to your voice, and keeping you informed about advocacy, issues, and promotion of CTE.

This will be a great challenge for me as well as a wonderful opportunity to get more directly involved in all aspects of CTE. I challenge you to do the same this year. Get involved with ALACTE, there is something that we can all do to make CTE better in our state.

Again, please consider my candidacy to become your next ALACTE President-elect.

Thanks so much.
