Technical Guide Notice No. 243

This notice transmits notification of revised documents and reference materials posted to Section I and II of the field office Technical Guide. The following documents have been posted to the Kentucky eFOTG:

  • Conservation Practice Definitions/Determination Matrix
  • Cultural Resource Decision Matrix
  • Cultural Resource Landowner Fact Sheet
  • Cultural Resource Policy Overview and Decision Tree
  • Kentucky Resource Assistance Contact List
  • National Register of Historic Places
  • Reporting Cultural Resource Progress in PRMS
  • Request for Cultural Resource Review
  • Comparison Analysis of the Benefits of WRP vs. CRP vs. Landowners Most Likely Agricultural Alternatives in Kentucky
  • WRP Cost List

ACTION

** Note to all NRCS field office staff: you are responsible for being familiar with all documents posted to the eFOTG and basing all conservation planning and application work on the most current guidelines.

Field offices are to access the Kentucky eFOTG at and access the Kentucky page under the Technology tab:

Select section II header, scroll down to the Cultural Resources Information folder and print those documents in each of the sub-folders that are needed to carry out day to day conservation planning activities (all have been revised since the March 2002 training). Be familiar with changes to all others.

Select Section I header, scroll down to cost data folder, then select crop budget folder and print out the “comparative analysis” document if needed for review or for distribution (this has been revised since email distribution to add WRP easement payments beyond the current bid cap).

Select Section 1 header, scroll down to the cost data folder and then the toolkit cost list subfolder and print out the “WRP Cost List”, if needed for reference. Be familiar with all changes. (This is a new issue)

Filing Instructions:

Cultural Resources Documents

Remove and discard any old copies of these documents. If desired, print and file a copy of each new document in Section II of the FOTG behind the “Cultural Resources” tab or in the Kentucky Environmental Handbook Supplement to the FOTG. Please note, begin using the new “request for cultural resource review” worksheet immediately. Print out a new Section II Table of Contents and file in front of Section II of the FOTG.

Crop Budget document

Remove and discard any old copies of this document. If desired, print and file a copy of the new document in Section I of the FOTG behind the Cost data/crop budget tab. Print out a new Section I Table of contents and file in front of Section I of the FOTG.

WRP Cost List

If desired, print a copy of this document using the browser print command. Set the print format to landscape, and file a copy of this document in Section I of the FOTG behind the cost data cost list tab.

Request assistance from your area Toolkit coordinator to load this cost list into Toolkit. Please note the significant change to unit costs for basins and mounds (this change was made in June 2002 to the state average cost list for all programs).

File this notice in front of Section I in the FOTG.
