General Responsibilities

Plans and presents daily instructional activities for providing distance learning American Sign Language instruction to hearing and/or deaf students for foreign language credit. Plans, develops, presents, and modifies curricula. Prepares lesson plans and other instructional materials. Teaches through distance learning medium (videoconferencing) in single and/or multi-point situations. Evaluates and documents appropriate data to monitor student progress, and reports grades according to distant sites’ needs. Works with far site facilitator as necessary. Grades 9-12.

Specific Responsibilities

·  Implements an instructional, or skill development program for assigned students and shows written evidence of preparation as required.

·  Monitors and prepares written reports regarding students’ progress as required.

·  Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.

·  Conducts assessment of student learning styles and uses results to plan for instructional activities.

·  Uses distance learning technology for teaching/learning process.

·  Works with far-site facilitator to manage student behavior in accordance with the code of conduct and individual behavior programs, and far-site policies.

·  Collaborates with students, parents, and other members of staff.

·  Documents attendance and grades as required.

·  Maintains confidentiality of information.

·  Performs other related duties as assigned by departmental supervisor.

·  Complies with all applicable safety rules, regulations, and standards.
