Position Impact
The Philanthropy Partner Specialist delivers the CA’s Mission through the development and growth of lasting relationships with Donors and Supporters within the Catholic community, Catholic business and wider community that will lead to increases in the level of financial support for the work of Caritas Australia.
Primary Objectives /Job Environment
· Contribute to the development and implementation of a Caritas Australia’s Philanthropy’s strategy and program.
· Cultivate and steward relationships with the Donor set that will lead to growing contribution and gifting to Caritas Australia.
· Contribute and engage in constructive relationships with the Philanthropy team so that links and relationships between roles are recognised, well-coordinated and will lead to growing opportunities to meet individual and team objectives.
Major Accountabilities
With the Philanthropy Lead and Manager, Fundraising, and the support of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), develop and implement a comprehensive strategy that will engage major Donors and Supporters resonate positively with.
· Forecast, generate and report income from major Donors and Supporters hereby contributing to the Philanthropy’s and Fundraising’s Groups income objectives.
· Identify, profile, cultivate and steward relationships with major Donors and Supporters leading to the donation of revenue to achieve the income objectives.
· Develop, coordinate, research and write effective impacting project proposals tailored to the interest of prospects and donors; be astute to decision-makers’ and influencers’ communication style preference, from more informal approaches to formal.
· Create a library of resources used to encourage contributions from major Donors and Supporters.
· Develop a ‘presence’ within the major Donors’ and Supporters’ sector being the first point of contact for enquiries, conducting personal visits, calls, letters and other activities such as producing persuasive approaches and materials.
· Converse with Philanthropy, Fundraising and Community Engagement Groups, including Diocesan Directors, and the wider Volunteer networks to identify opportunities for new prospects and emerging opportunities.
· Execute quality research (such as desktop profiling, liaising with external Agencies) to better identify significant prospects. Source data from internal CA database, working with Marketing Insights Analyst and external research sources.
· Develop and maintain up to date quality records and database and adhere to the Privacy Act (1988).
· Mindfulness in maintaining CA’s public profile and reputation by adhering to CA’s branding and communications policies and processes in the development of Donors’ and Supporters’ relationships, Fundraising programs and other external communications.
· Coordinate with Marketing Insights Analyst, compliance and reporting.
· Support CA and the Leadership Team through self and team mobilisation during Humanitarian Emergencies.
· Apply with integrity CA’s Code of Conduct, Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.

The Philanthropy Partner Specialist is responsible for decisions in relation to day to day decision making in relation to the operational requirements of the role, communications and relationship building.
Decision making regarding strategy and agency significant direction is made in consultation with the Philanthropy Lead and Manager, Fundraising.
All decision making is in accordance with parameters set out in:
· Caritas Australia Strategic Directions 2013 – 2018,
· Caritas Australia’s Agency Operational Plan (AOP),
· Principles of Catholic Social Teachings,
· Relevant ACBC and Agency policies, guidelines and codes of practice applicable to the sector.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience (selection criteria)
The successful candidate will demonstrate and provide examples from their professional experience of the following essential skills:
· Relevant Bachelor degree, tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience.
· Minimum 3 years experience in a Fundraising, business development or relationship management within a Philanthropic organisation.
· Highly developed relationship management, stakeholder development, and account management skills.
· Demonstrated ability to communicate with diplomacy at a superior level in both written and verbal mediums.
· Proficient in research, communicating for influence in written form such as proposals and presentations.
· Proficiency with donor/customer databases and Microsoft Office with demonstrated attention to detail applicable to documentation, information recording and planning.
· High ethical standards in dealing with sensitive financial and confidential matters.
· An understanding of and willingness to work within the Catholic ethos.

The incumbent must:
· Observe safe work practices in accordance with training and instruction given and report any risk to your immediate supervisor. Risks arising in the workplace may be financial, site, task or person specific or related to safety.

· Identify, report and where appropriate, action risks/hazards in order to eliminate or mitigate against the risk recurring.

· Ongoing appointment to this position is dependent upon successful completion of a relevant Criminal History Record Check.
· Adherence to Caritas Australia guidelines, policies and procedures is required.

· Commitment to participate in initiatives that foster workplace relations (e.g. Performance Development Reviews, KPIs, staff meetings).
· Current valid driver’s license; and able to travel domestically including some overnight stays.
