Describe Dragons Pictures

The dragons are hungry and waiting. But before you begin reading, here are some ways to keep the reading active.

  1. While reading Dragons Love Tacos, keep the discussion active by discussing questions like:
  • Robbie has dragon toys all around his room. What's your favorite toy?
  • When the dragon cooks the sizzling meat, what does that sound like? Do you like that smell?
  • These dragons like lots of kinds of parties. What are your favorite kinds of parties?
  • What instrument do you like to listen to? Do you like to play any?
  • What would it smell like if smoke were coming out of a dragon's ears?
  • What would the room sound like with fire shooting out everywhere?
  1. Does your child like to read books they like over and over? You can point out different things on different readings. Point out basic objects and people on early readings. On subsequent readings, point out body language, facial expressions, etc.
  1. Color is part of our world. It's one of the ways we identify things. Colorinformation is important to children who are blind, too.

"A bright blue sky" conveys a lot of meaning.
So does: "The darkening sky."
Here's another example:
"The grass was a deep, rich green."
And, "the grass was yellow and dry."

Never be afraid to talk about colors. Their significance carries meaning for everybody.
