WAYNES WORD
Another rally almost here!! This is a packed newsletter so make sure you read all the updates!
CROSS COUNTYRULE!! As of JULY 2009 the fall rider on the Cross Country Course has been updated. If you or your horse have a fall ANYWHERE on the Cross Country Course, whether at a jump or not, this is elimination! So even if your horse slips over going around a wet corner, you will be unable to ride on.
Werribee Horse Trials planning is well under way and we require all hands on deck to help with the event! Not only do we need help at the event, but there are also plenty of jobs leading up to the Horse Trials that need to be done also! All families are also asked to bring a cake or slice along to go to go with the lunches for the judges/officials, and if you work for some where that you would want to sponsor our event, make sure you go see the girls at Horseworld!!If there are any parents that also work for Telstra, the club is eligible for a grant to help with the financial side of the event. Make sure you are all at the clubrooms at the rally on Sunday during the Rally Muster so we can let everyone know where help is needed to run the event
The Clubrooms extension is coming along at a great pace, and we hope to be able to use the room shortly.
Our very own Dressage Instructor Bianca Barnes has also made it into the top 3 finalist’s for the 2009 Equestrian Victoria Young Ambassador of the Year for Dressage! Bianca is currently in the stages for the final interviews , with the winner being announced at the Equestrian Victoria Gala Dinner on the 8th of August. We wish Bianca the best of luck, and will have the result update in the next newsletter.
That is all from me, and I will see you all Sunday.

Uniforms; Rallies / New members

7 Uniform

7.1 Rallies

7.1.a Club committees decide what uniform or attire must be worn at rallies.

7.1.b For safety, members must always wear approved footwear and, when mounted, an approved

equestrian helmet, in accordance with rule 10.5.

7.1.c Singlets or sleeveless garments must not be worn at any time with the exception of a

sleeveless vest, which when worn, must be worn over a sleeved garment. Attire that has not

been approved by the club committee must not be worn.

7.1.d Clubs may allow a period of grace before requiring a member to purchase and wear the full

pony club uniform at a rally.**

UNIFORM INFO

WPC Rules state that new members are to be in uniform after 2 rallies

WPC Saddle Blankets are also an “optional” part of the uniform

Polo tops have been passed to be an official part of the uniform, and the club will find out about the Rugby Jumpers at the next Central Zone meeting on August the 4th

First Aid and Accidents at Rallies: Any rider falls or injuries MUST be reported to the First Aid Officer, no matter how big or small the injury is. Any rider that hits there head upon a fall, must be monitored for 1 hour by the First Aid Officer before being able to re-mount

Last rally there was a big issue on riders falling, and the falls not being reported!

-All falls / accidents needed to be reported immediately to first aid, no matter how big or small

-Incident reports must be completed for any fall or accident

-falls / accidents are not just for riders – they are also for parents and spectators, and may not involve horses in any way.

And remember – horse riding sports can be a dangerous recreational activity and horses can act is a sudden and unpredictable (changeable) way, especially if frightened or hurt. The Instructors do not put riders into a situation where they believe it may be a danger to the horse or rider. The club also has first aid on hand at rallies, in the case of any injury, and we have Vet’s within the club who are able to treat a horse if necessary.

Any riders that also hit there head, wether at a rally, event or just at the paddock, are also highly recommended
