Maryland:

*State-wide, three-year moratorium in effect

* Mountain Lake Park, adopted a community rights ordinance banning corporations from natural gas drilling.

Michigan:

*Detroit City Council, Ferndale City Council and Wayne County Commission each passed a resolution in support of a statewide and national ban on fracking.

New Jersey:

*State-wide, one-year moratorium in effect

* Passed a resolution in support of a statewide ban on fracking: Bethlehem Township, Byram Township, Clinton Township, Delaware Township, Holland Township, Princeton Township, Borough of Princeton, Readington Township, Secausus, Stillwater Township, Trenton

*Clinton passed a resolution in support of a statewide and national ban on fracking; ordained that fracking is prohibited in Clinton.

* Passed a resolution in support of a statewide and national ban on fracking: Borough of Closter, Franklin Township, Borough of Highland Park, New Brunswick

New York

*State-wide, two-plus year moratorium in effect

*Moratoria implemented at the local level against fracking: Alfred, Augusta, Barrington, Benton, Gorham, Highland, Jerusalem, Jordan Elbridge, Kirkland, Marcellus, Marshall, Milo Dewitt, Naples, New Hartford, Niles, Paris, Skaneateles, Spafford, Tully, Utica, Vernon; Sullivan County

*Bans against fracking, using home rule, land use or zoning laws: Albany, Auburn, Buffalo, Camillus, Cherry Valley, Danby, Dryden, Geneva, Ithaca, Middlefield, Oneonta, Plainfield, Richmondville, Ulysses, Virgil; counties - Broome, Onondaga, Ontario, Otsego , Springfield, Sullivan, Tompkins, Ulster

*The Town of Wales adopted a community rights ordinance that bans “fracking.” The ordinance establishes a Bill of Rights for Wales residents and “recognizes and secures certain civil and political rights of the residents to govern themselves and protect themselves from harm to their persons, property and environment.”

* The Medical Society of the State of New York has gone on record supporting a moratorium on gas drilling using high volume hydraulic fracturing.

North Carolina:

*State-wide ban in effect

Ohio:

*Alliance – considering ordinance to ban fracking on city-owned land

* Passed resolution in support of a statewide moratorium on fracking: Canton, Columbiana, Garrettsville, Hartville, Munroe Falls, North Canton, Plain Township, Yellow Springs

*Hartville - passed ordinance banning fracking on village property

* Passed ordinance banning fracking on township property:

Medina Township (Medina County), Monteville Township (Medina County), Plain Township (Stark County), Sharon Township (Medina County), York Township (Medina County)

* Munroe Falls – prevented drilling by enforcing road and zoning ordinances – enforcement upheld by court

*Strongsville –passed a resolution in support of a statewide moratorium on oil and gas well drilling in heavily populated areas

Pennsylvania:

* Pittsburgh adopts the first-in-the-nation community rights ordinance which elevates the right of the community to decide, and the rights of nature over the “rights” associated with corporate personhood. The City Council unanimously adopted this ordinance banning corporations from conducting natural gas drilling in the city.

* Adopted a community rights ordinance banning fracking:

Borough of Baldwin, Borough of West Homestead, Borough of Wilkinsburg, Borough of Forest Hills

* Borough of State College adopted an amendment to their home rule charter that constitutionalizes a local Bill of Rights, and protects those rights by prohibiting natural gas extraction.

* Passed a resolution in support of Pittsburgh’s community rights based ordinance banning fracking and constitutional recognition of the right to community local self government in PA: Easton, Borough of Media, Borough of New Hope, Borough of Phoenixville

*Philadelphia passed a resolution calling on the Delaware River Basin Commission to halt hydraulic fracturing operations until a full environmental impact assessment has been conducted; refuses to purchase Marcellus Shale gas as the

dumping of flow back waters is polluting their water supply.

West Virginia:

*Wellsville and Lewisburg banned fracking within city limits.

*Morgantown banned fracking in the city and within one mile of the city limits as well. Monongalia County (WV) Circuit Court overturned ban.
