MINISTRY OF EDUCATION

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA SCHOLARSHIP – 2017/2018

The Government of India has offered fifty two (52) scholarships both in undergraduate and postgraduate studies (Masters and PhD), under African Scholarship Scheme. The areas of study are open except Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and other health related courses, neither does it offer courses in Veterinary Sciences or Pharmacology subjects.

Eligibility

A. Undergraduate:

a) Minimum KCSE Mean Grade of B (plain) at KCSE.

b) Have Grade “B” in core subjects in the preferred field of study.

c) Not more than 23 years of age.

d) Completed Secondary Education in the last three (3) years.

e) Have original KCSE certificates.

B. Postgraduate

(i) Are serving the country in the public sector.

(ii) Completed two (2) years of continuous public service since their last degree studies.

(iii) Applicants for Masters Studies must have graduated with a Bachelor’s

Degree of at least Upper Second Class Honors.

(iv) Applicants for PhD studies must have a relevant Master’s Degree.

(v) Applicants have to be below thirty five (35) years for Masters and forty

five (45) years for PhD.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

1.  Preliminary application forms are obtainable from the Ministry of Education offices at Telposta Towers, 27th Floor Room 2702. The application forms can also be downloaded from the Ministry’s website: http://www.education.go.ke/home/index.php/downloads/category/12/12-scholarship-forms.

Candidates for postgraduate courses should submit their application forms through their Heads of Departments.

2.  Completed application forms with certified photocopies of ID, Academic/professional certificates, Transcripts, Birth Certificate, other Testimonials and a proposal in the area of study (for PhD study only) should be sent to:

Or delivered to Telposta Towers, 27th Floor, Room 2702.

3.  Only shortlisted applicants shall be informed and invited for interview by phone call from phone number: 0771842051 or 0773825305. Note No any other phone number apart from the two listed above shall be used to inform applicants and invite them for interview.

4.  The preliminary application forms should reach the Ministry not later than 10th January, 2017.

NB:

1. Priority for postgraduate level will be given to teaching staff in Public Universities and University Constituent Colleges. Teaching staff in these institutions are highly encouraged to apply.

2. Priority will be accorded to students who have never studied in India before.
