Minutes of Annual General Body Meeting

Annual General Body Meeting (AGBM) of Indian Society of Hospital Waste Management (ISHWM) was held on 2nd December 2016in the Ball Room,Kasturba Medical College, Manipal at 1730 hours. As quorum was not there, so meeting adjourned for five minutes and then reassembled. With permission of the chair, Secretary of the society conducted the meeting.

Following agenda points were discussed one by one:

Agenda points / Proceedings/Decision taken
  1. Approval of New Members
/ Eighteennew members were enrolled since last AGBM. They were unanimously approved by house
  1. Secretary’s Report
/ Secretary’s Report was circulated among members present there and salient points were read out by Dr K S Baghotia, Secretary ISHWM.
  1. Treasurers Report and approval of audited report
/ Treasure’s report along with audited statement of ISHWM for the year 2015-16 was circulated and salient were read out by the treasurer. House unanimously approved the audited report
  1. Fellowship of Indian Society of Hospital Waste Management
/ The fellowship committee did not recommend to give fellowship to anybody this year.
However, Name of Dr N Girish Rao was recommended by Prof. Narendra Nath to be considered for next year(2017).
  1. Best paper award: proposal ratification
/ Best Paper award was unanimously approved by the House. A committee chaired by Professor Sidhartha Satpathy with team Prof. Narender Nath, and Prof. S Pruthvish. Best paper was selected in each session. Total from faculty we had 8 papers and students 9 papers
Best Paper in student category was around Rs.5,000 as 1st Prize and Rs.3,000 as second prize and Rs.3,000 for Best Poster.

  1. Selection of Chartered Accountant
/ House unanimously approved the engagement of auditor by Secreatry ISHWM.
Website updating help will be provided by Dr Narender Nath.
  1. Approval/ ratification of the names recommended by the governing council for office bearers- President, Vice president
/
  1. Dr Amitha Marla the returning Officer for ISHWM has received nominations for the post of President from Prof. A K Agarwal, for Vice President from Dr K S Baghotia and Dr Sidhartha Satpathy for the post of Secretary. There were no other nominations. Therefore, Governing Council recommended the Continuation of Prof. A K Agarwal as President and unopposed election of Dr K S Baghotia as vice President and Dr Sidhartha Satpathy as Secretary.
  2. Dr Amitha marla also conducted the elections for Joint Secretary and Treasurer.
  3. Following Members were also adopted by Governing Council:

NB: * One year or till next elections are held
  1. Proposal for Next Conference.
/ Proposals were invited from members for next conference. Association of Certified Hazardous Material Managers (ACHMM) Bangaluru has accepted the challenge for next conference. It will be organized in collaboration with MS Ramaiah Institute of Medical Sciences and SIHFW. Dr Narendra Nath will coordinate this conference.

It was decided that ISHWM in collaboration with AIIMS will come out with SOPs, Bar Coding Video and E-module for training on Biomedical waste Management. Dr Narendra Nath will coordinate meeting with Health Minister for Pilot Project.It was also suggested that ISHWM should approach National Skill Development Council. The Technical Trainings can be organized at AIIMs- New Delhi; MSRIMS- Bangaluru; KMC Manipal and at Mangalore by Dr Amitha Marla.

It was also appreciated that Prof. S Pruthvish and his Team has beautifully taken out the ISHWM Journal.Meeting ended with vote of thanks to the house.
