Urban Environmental Justice ProjectsResearching the connection between historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and the co-location of environmental disamenities, potential conversion of locally undesirable land-uses into community assets, and the capacity of HBCU students to create social capital to be applied in promoting environmental justice in their neighborhoods and elsewhere. Learned to search for and write grant proposals. Coordinated visits of prominent Environmental Justice advocates to the Nicholas School.

Friends of the Earth USCampaign organization and implementation. Researched and wrote fact sheets, issue briefs, and action kits. Blogger and contributor to social media outlets. Compiled contact information and interviewed major chefs, restaurants, and grocery chains to seek alignment with our causes. Conducted market research and ranked companies based on alignment with our ideology. Contributed to GE-Free Seafood Campaign, Nanotechnology Campaign, Washington GE-Labeling Political Action with a focus on Apples, the Bee Acton Campaign, and helped plan and launch the Synthetic Biology Vanillin campaign.

Created maps demonstrating the proximity of each set of twins in an 18-year longitudinal study to low income areas. Google street view used to physically categorize neighborhoods. GIS analysis to categorize areas by neighborhood ratings comprising multiple factors, and these maps will be used to further link twins health, academic, or other statistics by their surroundings and proximity to different kinds of neighborhoods. Should illuminate how socio-economic and physical neighborhood surroundings can effect development for multiple traits in children.
