Welcome Back Aztecs

Welcome Back Aztecs

“Go Beyond”

Welcome Back Aztecs,

Yes, it is that time of year to reunite our EDHS family and begin another FantAztec year here at “The Empire”. I have always said that while the breaks are much needed and deserved and I want each of you to spend the time resting, re-charging and re-grouping from the long hours and hard work of the previous year, school is not school without you here. As always, I hope your summer was full of laughs, good times and that you made many lifelong memories with those near and dear to you. We again have been busy preparing and planning for your return and we look forward to seeing each of you this school year.Along with having the best students in the district, we undoubtedly have the best teachers as well. Our teachers set the academic bar high last year and our kids rose to the challenge and this year they keep to that focus and commitment of having ALL students college ready.

Last year we focused on “Being the Vision” and guiding our students to developing their own goals and commitments. This year we build on this by committing by having them “Go Beyond”all obstacles to reach these goals and persevere. This cannot happen without our supportive parents being involved with their kids and communicating with teachers and administration throughout the year. The SISD parent app and Tyler parent portal are great ways to keep informed of your child at your own convenience. Please contact the school at 937-3201 for assistance with this if needed.

We continue to be the only AVID National Demonstration School in the city and we are excited that our InternationalBaccalaureate program is now accepting applications from students out of the district. We are truly fortunate to have these two sound and nationally recognized programs here at El Dorado. This year we also expanded our 1:1 initiative to include all 9th and 10th grade as we prepare kids to compete globally after graduation.

Please do not hesitate to contact me or anyone on my administration team should you need any assistance and please contact our parent liaison, Ceci Soto at to become a volunteer or simply learn of our parent involvement program. Again, welcome to 2017-2018 and I cannot wait to see each of you July 31!

It’s ALWAYS a good day to be an Aztec.”
