The Equestrian Interschools Ireland league moved west on Sunday February 10th to Clonshire Equestrian Centre, Adare, County Limerick. There was a good turn out for the first competition of the day the novice team competition and teams travelled from Kildare, Wexford, and Galway along with strong entries from all of the local schools to compete.Teams jumped one round in the indoor arena and moved to jump the second round in the outdoor arena giving the competitors the opportunity to experience two different show jumping courses. In a closely fought competition first place was taken by St. Marys Secondary School, Nenagh represented by the three person team of Eimear Star on Cisco Star, Ciara Kerins on White Night and Eleana Sheehy on Biscuit who were all clear in a time of 73.95. Just pipped into second was the team from Villiers School Blue team, Della Daly on Melody in motion, Olivia Gurnett on Miss Capuchino, Natasha Hanrahan on Clonshire Lad and Ellie Brislane on Clonshire Surprise, clear, on a time of 74.61. Third and fourth went to Laurel Hill Colaiste Red team and Laurel Hill Colaiste Blue team. Fifth place went to Ard Scoil Na Trionaide from Athy, Co. Kildare and sixth was claimed by Salesians Pallaskenry.

Whilst less teams lined up to take on the higher more technical open course,which was again run over two different tracks;in a closely fought competition victory went to Laurel Hill Colaiste Black team represented by Aishling NiBhrolchoin on Oaktree Viking, Kate Gloster on Nando, Emily Clifford on Willow and Sarah Mangan riding Lady Spot.Second place was claimed by a combined team from Laurel Hill Colaiste and SMI combined team , Aideen Neville Sorcha Begly Amy Cussen Sidhbh DeBarra. Making their journey worthwhile from Kildare third place went to Ardscoil na Trionoide. Sophie Owns Thunder, Orlaith Doyle on Punch, Rachel Kelly on Ollie and Ruth Kehoe riding Gail.

Also travelling a distance to claim league points, Colaiste Bhride Carnew represented by Andrew Brennan riding Happy Lucy, Emily Madden on Indie, Aaron Brennan riding Snow and Laura Madden on Pheobe claimed fourth and fifth place went to St Marys in Nenagh. The St Mary’s riders were Caoimhe Murphy TicTock S Cahill Marians Moonshade Sophie Mullane Beaugh Drifter Ciara Mullane Harvey.

In the open individuals CaitlinBuckleyRockwellCollege claimed ten league points when winning the competition. Just beating Olivia Shannahanof Presentation Convent Limerick into second place. Third place was claimed by Aishling NiBhrolchainfrom Laurel Hill Colaisteand fourth went to Emaily Cliffford from LaurelHillEnglishSchool.

Action moves now to Boswell on Saturday 23rd.
