The Fair Employment Act of 2015

BE IT ENACTED BY THE CONGRESS HERE ASSEMBLED THAT:

SECTION 1​. The federal minimum wage shall be raised. Employers shall henceforth be

required to provide paid sick leave to all employees in the United States.

SECTION 2​. The federal minimum wage is defined as the lowest wage any employer in the

nation may pay an employee for work performed. Paid sick leave shall be

defined as wages paid to employees for work-hours missed for medical or health

related purposes.

SECTION 3​. The Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor shall oversee the

enforcement of this bill with the following provisions:

A. The minimum wage that an employer may pay an employee in the United

States shall be $15.00 an hour.

B. The maximum tip credit an employer may claim against the minimum wage

obligation shall be $5.00 an hour; thus, the minimum wage for tipped employees

shall be $10.00 an hour, excluding money earned in tips.

C. All US employers must provide all hourly employees with at least 24 hours of

paid sick leave per annum.

SECTION 4. Provisions outlined in Section 3 (A), (B) shall take effect September 30

2015.

Section 3 (C) shall take effect January 1, 2016.

SECTION 5. All laws in conflict with this legislation are hereby declared null and void.

A Bill to Amend the Constitution to Establish a Citizen’s Veto

BE IT ENACTED BY THE CONGRESS HERE ASSEMBLED THAT:

  1. SECTION 1​. By two­thirds of the Congress here assembled, that the following article is
  1. proposed as an amendment to the Constitution, which shall be valid to all

3. intents and purposes as part of the Constitution when ratified by the

4.legislatures of three­fourths of the several states within seven years from the

5. date of its submission by the Congress:

6. ARTICLE ­­

7. SECTION 1​: For each act passed by Congress, the citizens of the United

8.States will have the power to collectively veto the act by a

9.two­thirds majority vote concluding 28 days following

10.passage. The vote shall be conducted based on state election laws.

11.No act vetoed may bereintroduced in substantially similar form until the next

12.session of Congress.

14.SECTION 2​: This Amendment shall take effect upon the next session of

15.the Congress after ratification. The Congress shall have

16.power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

17.SECTION 2​. To facilitate the Citizens Veto Amendment, upon its approval, an online

18.voting system shall be created, accessible online and through an app on all

19. major mobile operating systems.

20. SECTION 3​. Voting citizens must meet the requirements established by their state of

21.residence.

22. SECTION 4​. A bi­partisan committee shall draft a synopses for each bill passed detailing

23.its general effects. The synopsis, full text, and link to vote will appear on

24.the website/app within 1 day of a bill’s passage.

25. SECTION 5. Online voting will close 28 days after passage. If two­thirds of those who

26.vote, reject the bill, the legislation will be considered null and void.

27. SECTION 6. This legislation will take effect on the effective date of the Amendment.

28. SECTION 7. All laws in conflict with this legislation are hereby declared null and void.

Student Loan Debt

WHEREAS,Student loan debt currently exceeds $1.2 trillion dollars; and

WHEREAS,A college degree no longer guarantees employment and

WHEREAS,State governments continue to cut funding for colleges and universities

WHEREAS,Financial aid has shifted from grants to loans

Resolved,That Congress here assembled mandate that public higher education

institutions increase academic spending to provide at least 25 percent

reduction in tuition fees.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That 25 percent of all student loans will be forgiven for graduates

of public higher education institutions.

A BILL TO LOWER THE NATIONAL AGE TO PURCHASE AND CONSUME ALCOHOL TO 18 YEARS OLD.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE STUDENT CONGRESS HERE ASSEMBLED THAT:

SECTION 1.The National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984 will be amended to lower the

age of consumption and purchase of alcohol to 18 years old.

SECTION 2.The National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984 regulates the minimum age of

consumption and purchase to 21 years.

SECTION 3. The Food and Drug Administration will oversee the implementation of this bill.

SECTION 4.This bill will take effect at the beginning of the year 2016

SECTION 5.All laws in conflict with this legislation are hereby declared null and void.
