Kids First Maplewood Project- 80- households- 206 students
Reason
Tutoring/recreation program
Low income that is established by the local government
50 WSU students volunteer each week
Students serve as tutors, play supervisors and mentors
Volunteers from all programs
Daily Schedules
3:00-4:00 is devoted to homework and reading
4:00-7:00 is activity time: games, crafts, and outdoor activities
Each Volunteer commits to one two hour block per week- 3-5 or 5-7
Special Projects
Project GO- Get Outside
Girls Club- High School Girls do this as a mentoring activity, first Monday of every month
Healthy Kids Club- Winona Health comes to teach nutrition etc
We Are Growing
First week-25 children per day
Attendence now averages 45-50 per night
Over 90 children have participated the first 4 weeks

Volunteering results in:
A lot of fun, great things for kids, an improved resume, demonstrating: concern for community and the world, experience with diverse cultures, and experience with economically disadvantaged families
Works very closely with parents, not a great response but have gotten some. 5 parents that are very consistant.

Jen- Money for Paul to pay for his tux- Pay for tux at $107.00. We nominated him. Notion to pay is PASSED
Treasure- $511.16 in account right now
Praxis II- Get people that have already taken, you have to take this test to get your liscense. Half hour and people will come to talk about the test. We will look at getting a few people together.
Secretary—AD Hoc form, and if there are problems go to SPED office and talk to Dr. Danneker
Treasurer—dues are due tonight! If you forgot your money tonight, you can drop it off at Dr. Danneker’s office. Get everything to national office- ABSOLUTE deadline is OCT.20TH Make checks payable to WSUSCEC

Project COMPASS Dance—Jen. Entire thing planned before we leave for Winter break. The week that we come back. The Friday we come back. January 16th. New Years Eve theme.
