Systems of the Human Body

The Task
A team of medical students will research one of nine systems of the human body. These systems include: Circulatory, Digestive, Endocrine, Muscular, Nervous, Reproductive, Respiratory, Skeletal, and Urinary. Each team will be expected to present their findings in Powerpoint, PREZI, or GoogleDocs format to their superiors and their colleagues at the West Essex Medical Symposium.

Process
Information that is needed includes the following:

1.  Physiological explanation as to how the system functions (general function(s) of the system)

2.  ALL of the specific organs that make up the system and their functions

3.  Description of how the system interacts/works with 3 OTHER systems

4.  Diagrams and/or illustrations of the system

5.  At least one video depicting the system in action

6.  3 Disorders associated with the system

1.  Description of disorders

2.  Signs of symptoms of each

3.  Onset and treatment if any

Assessment
Each presentation will be evaluated based on the following:

·  Accuracy of written and oral information (if there is a word on your slide, you must know its meaning)

·  Presentation format (neatness, grammar, etc) –if it’s boring or dull you will lose points

·  Quality of presentation (eye contact, volume) – You MUST be able to answer questions about your system and be able to describe anything you have in your presentation).

Rules of POWER POINT:

·  Information CANNOT just be copy and pasted. You must rewrite it in your own words when applicable.

·  Font, color, etc. must be consistent.

·  NO PARAGRAPHS! You should have no more than 4 bullet points per slide and you should only include main words. Each bullet does not have to be a complete sentence.

·  Your presentation should be at least 10 slides long but no more than 15

·  You are giving a brief presentation, but be prepared to answer questions.

**** You must email me your presentations by the due date, but before coming to class.

**** You must also make sure that everyone in your group has the powerpoint and has shared it with me. (prezis and google docs should be shared already). A partner being absent does not excuse you from handing it in on time.
