Minutes have been presented, Dr. Bobb made a motion to accept and Scott Beeler seconded they passed unanimously. Financials were reviewed and a motion was made by Holly Wilkinson to accept the financials and Doug Small seconded the motion passed.

Motion made to accept the proposed slate of officers for 2016; including Dr. Bobb as President,Doug Small as Vice President, Scott Beeler as Treasurer and Holly Wilkinson as Secretary. Doug Small made a motion to accept the slated candidates and Pam seconded the motion carried.

Considering an add page or insert in the Dispatch - Carri Ortiz is our contact person. Dr. Bobb related that the single sheet to him did not seem appealing due to the fact that the inserts are often not read by the readership.

Future of marketing Silvis: Kathy Hall described Max Marketing (“Home Town Friendly” was the proposed tag line – which did not seem to differentiate the Silvis community) to come up with a strategy – overall they were not pleased with their proposal. Watts and Hansen is a group from Moline that they have sought out a proposal from – they have been involved in more municipalities. We want to look more at what makes the Silvis community unique. Jim shared that the process is intense for interviewing with lots of information being narrowed. They represented a lot of local businesses and non profits. The city is to hear back from the new group in the next couple of weeks.

Steve Bein(16 years on the board and 4 years as a 4H representative) a representative for the RI Co Fair Board – he is looking to step down. One meeting a month there are three to four committees involved. The tough part of the job is during the fair and tearing down and clean up. Mike Slyter, SBA member, described some interest in participating.

Promotion of membership on Facebook has been talked about the last couple of weeks. Dr. Bobb shared a couple of examples that he has put together. There will be considerations for boosting. This may be something that will be extended to the associate members as well. Biographies for businesses - Dr Bobb had some examples that he put together for information that members had provided him at this point.

Everyone is interested in having a banquet possibly early 2016.

Discussion regarding the frequency of meetings was had and it was determined that it would be open for more discussion at the time of our meeting in January.

Christmas gathering on December 16th at 5:30pm - Doug Small made a motion Pamela seconded – motion carried.

Ribbon cutting and open house this coming weekend for Sunny Cove who is a new member of the SBA and is located at 903 1st Ave, Silvis. Grand Opening in December for Waterworld Aquatics.

Main Street:

  • Christmas in Silvis Sat Dec 5th from 5:30-8pm.

Dr. Bobb suggested donating $300 to Silvis Main Street for Christmas in Silvis. Scott Beeler made a motion and Doug Small seconded the motion carried.
