MA-IS Program Study Schedule

The Master of Arts - Integrated StudiesProgram may be completed in 2 to 6 years. Below are sample study schedules for students to use as guidelines. Please contact the MA-IS Office should you have any questions.

Please ensure you read the following information as it will assist you with choosing your courses within the program.

6 Year Plan – Students must complete two courses per academic year.

4 Year Plan – Students must complete one course per semester.

2 Year Plan – Students must complete two courses per semester.

Program Status:

To maintain program status, students must register in a minimum of two courses per academic year.

Students may register in a maximum of two courses at one time. Students who would like to register in more than two courses per semester must apply to the MA-IS Office for permission to do so. Please contact the MA-IS Office for more information.

Focus Areas:

To focus in one area, students must complete a minimum of four courses from that concentration. Should students wish to complete a dual focus area, they cannot use one course towards both focus areas.

Electives: Once core courses are complete, students may alternate electives courses with focus area courses.

Course Information:

The MA-IS Program offers two types of courses, grouped study and individualized study. Courses offered through grouped study are only offered in this mode, the same goes for individualized study. Examples: MAIS 601 is only offered in grouped study mode, MAIS 615 is only offered in individualized study mode.

MAIS 601 and MAIS 602 are grouped study courses which are offered each semester.

Students cannot register in the two core courses, MAIS 601 and MAIS 602, in the same semester. Should students wish to register in more than one course, they may register in an elective course alongside a core course.

MAIS 701 is an individualized study course which starts on the first of each month. This course will be your last course in the program.

OR

MAIS 700 is a grouped study course which starts each semester. This course will be your last course in the program.

6 Year Plan – Students must complete two courses per academic year. The chart below is to be used as a guideline; students may register in their courses in any semester within each year. Students may complete two courses in one semester and not register again until the next academic year.

Note: Elective courses may be alternated with focus area courses.
