President S Responsibilities

PRESIDENT’S RESPONSIBILITIES

But not limited to..

  • Band liaison to directors for suggestions and grievances
  • In charge of band hall appearance. You will come up with a set time once a week where you will straighten up the band hall…preferably after each LT meeting.
  • Responsible in organizing the Band Banquet along with Band Booster parent committee.
  • In charge of any social events (including but not limited to: Holiday Party, social events including games for Summer Band). This includes organizing, decorating and detail work for the event.
  • Participate in ALL FUNDRAISERS
  • Participate in ALL BAND EVENTS WITHOUT QUESTION (practices, performances, social activities, trips)

CLASS REPRESENTITIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

But not limited to..

  • Interact and assist the band president with band student issues, liaison between students in your class and the band president for suggestions and grievances.

  • To participate in ALL band events without question (performances, rehearsals, social gatherings, trips)

SECTION LEADER RESPONSIBILITIES

But not limited to…

  • Be a ROLE MODEL to your entire section AND band.
  • You are responsible for collection and organization of ALL of your sections coordinate sheets.
  • Help teach music and drill in an effective way to your section. This means you know your music well in advance and better than your section.
  • Perform uniform inspection and taking care of any missing items before the band is dismissed to the buses.
  • To write a RALF entry for EVERY game, not just the games you had time for and turn it in by the end of the day on the DAY BEFORE the event.
  • Participate in ALL band events without question (rehearsals, performances, social activities, trips)
  • Participate in ALL fundraisers.

LIBRARIAN RESPONSIBILITIES

But not limited to…

  • To find a person who is in opposite band to help you with your duties. All suggestions must be made to me before asking the individual.
  • To manage and organize the music library.
  • To create an order sheet with all of the songs listed so students can order music that has been misplaced. Orders must be filled within 24 hours. Creating this order sheet must take place prior to summer band. Please make an appointment with me in July so this can happen.
  • To create a NEW order sheet for concert season.
  • To make sure at least ONE original is always kept for each instrument for EACH song. The originals will be kept in the office.
  • To create and maintain a library that is ultra organized. This can only happen if you come in a couple times a week to maintain organization.
  • To participate in ALL fundraisers
  • To participate in ALL band events without question (performances, rehearsals, social gatherings, trips)

UNIFORM MANAGER’S REPSONSIBILITIES

But not limited to….

  • To find at least one individual in an opposite band class to help you with your duties. Any suggestions must be brought to me before asking the individual.
  • Maintain an accurate database on which uniform is checked out to which student, updating this database when necessary.
  • To present me a list of names of whose uniform was not hung up properly after each game so fines can be assessed to the students.
  • To CREATE a concert black database for concert season and to make sure that each item (Men’s Jacket, Men’s Pants, Men’s Tux Shirts, Bowtie, Cummerbund, and Ladies Dresses are marked with a number and an accurate database is kept throughout concert season of what is checked out to whom.
  • To reorganize uniforms after every cleaning.
  • To be VERY prepared with uniform fittings.
  • To provide me with a list of any alterations that need to be done after the uniform fitting day and throughout the year. Alterations must be pinned with safety pins prior for uniforms going into the cleaners.
  • To check in uniforms at the end of marching season and concert season, alerting me of any repairs that need to be done on the uniforms.
  • Participates in ALL fundraising events
  • Participates in ALL band activities w/out question (rehearsals, concerts, social activities, trips).

HISTORIAN RESPONSIBILITIES

But not limited to….

  • Takes LOTS of pictures at every event that we have that features ALL of the band students in some way or form, not just a select few.
  • Write a monthly article for the Tiger Times that includes pictures and graphics. Each article is due on the first day of each month and must be emailed to the director to proof. If you do not know what to write about, it is your responsibility to ask the director. You will need to include contest results, concert dates, and general band information. This is read by many adults, so it needs to be done in a professional manner.
  • Create a slide show for the band banquet AND for the Spring Concert
  • Creates a band scrapbook and completed May 17th so that the band AND current seniors can look through. Scrapbook needs to include photos with captions, programs, etc. It is very important that EVERY BAND MEMBER is included in the scrapbook and not just a select few.
  • Participates in ALL fundraising events.
  • Participates in ALL band activities w/out question (rehearsals, concerts, social activities, trips).

EQUIPMENT MANAGER

But not limited to….

  • Careful loading and unloading the equipment truck.
  • To recruit up to 5 people to help you on a consistent basis, each game.
  • After the second game, the truck is expected to be loaded / unloaded in 10 minutes.
  • Before each rehearsal, the equipment manager and 2 other helpers may mark off the field, take out PA equipment and take out drum major equipment.
  • Participates in ALL band activities (rehearsals, concerts, social activities, trips)
  • Participates in ALL fundraising events.
