PATHWAY TO GLORY

Psalms 16:8-11

INTRODUCTION: The Psalmist knew the unfailing faithfulness of God. The Lord would be with him in life and in death. He rejoiced in the promises of God and rested in hope. He believed in the resurrection and a glorious future with God.

I. PATH OF GOD

A. PATH OF LIGHT.

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Ps. 27:1)

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Ps. 119:105)

“I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.”(John 12:46)

“But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.” (Proverbs 4:18-19)

B. PATH OF LIFE.

“My Sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish.” (John 10:27-28)

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)

II. PRESENCE OF GOD

A. ATTRIBUTE OF GOD.

1. Gift of Jesus.

“These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” (John 15:11)

2. Fruit of the Spirit. (Ga. 5:22)

B. ATTITUDE OF HEAVEN.

1. Joy of the angels.

2. Joy of the saints.

C. ABSENCE OF SIN.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” (Rev. 21:4)

III. PLEASURES OF GOD

A. PLEASURE OF WORSHIPPING GOD.

B. PLEASURE IN THE WORK OFGOD.

C. PLEASURE IN THE WONDER OF GOD.

MORE LOVE AND BEAUTY THERE

When loved ones cross the sunset sea

God never meant that there should be

Lonely hours of sorrow for

Those who are left upon the shore.

For if he filled this world of ours

With love and stares and fragrant flowers

How can we doubt his tender care

Will give more love and beauty there?

O THAT WILL BE GLORY

When all my labors and trials are o’er, And I am safe on that

beautiful shore, Just to be near the dear Lord I adore,

Will thro’ the ages be glory for me.

When, by the gift of His infinite grace, I am accorded in

heaven a place, Just to be there and to look on His face,

Will thro’ the ages be glory for me.

Friends will be there I have loved long ago; Joy like a river

around me will flow; Yet just a smile from my Savior, I know,

Will thro’ the ages be glory for me. O that will

glory for me, Glory for me, glory for me, When by His grace

I shall look on His face, That will be glory, be glory for me.
