Agreement duration / Article 31 stipulates this Agreement shall be in force for an unlimited duration. However, any party to the Agreement can withdraw from it, provided that the Party concerned sends a notification to this effect to the Foreign Ministerial Committee. The Agreement shall be deemed invalid for the Party that has requested the withdrawalafter a period of three months following the date of the notification.
Entry into Force / The Agadir Agreement was signed by the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Morocco, the TunisianRepublic and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on 22/2/2004.the agreement has entered into force on 6/7/2006.
Exempted commodities / All the industrial and agriculture products are exempted from the entire tariff and the non-tariff measures as soon as the agreement is into effect.
Advantages of the Agreement / 1-Applying the cumulative Rules of Originwillsupport and enhance the economic and trade cooperation amongthe parties.
2-Pursuitof establishingthe Greater Arab Free Trade Area and the development thereof, and as a contribution to the efforts being exerted to establish a Common Arab Market.
3-The Agadir Declaration has even more benefits of expanding the European Union markets after the accession of ten new member states.
4-The Agadir Declaration will enhance trade exchange between Egypt and the signatory Arab countries sincethe volume of inter-Arabtradedoes not exceed 10% of their total trade volume currently.
5-This Agreement deals with many important issues such as customs systems, rules of origin, government procurements, financial transactions, safeguard measures, new industries, subsidy and dumping, intellectual property, standards and specifications, and establishing a dispute settlement mechanism. Rules of origin constitute one of the most important articles stipulated in the Agadir Agreement since it will increase the prospectiveEuropean Market Access for products of Party states,which consequently will encourage investments and increase inter-country regional cooperation.
