NHS OUTSTANDING SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP

The NHS Outstanding Senior Scholarship is open to currently-enrolled students at Kingwood High School who are National Honor Society members in good standing. The scholarship committee, made up of the NHS Faculty Council, considers a student’s representation of the four pillars of NHS – scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The amount and the number of scholarships shall be at the discretion of the Kingwood Chapter of National Honor Society. The scholarship funds are intended for institutional costs and fees for post-secondary education programs. This includes programs offered by accredited vocational-technical schools and two-year and four-year colleges or universities. Scholarship funds that have been awarded will be sent to the recipient’s educational institution two weeks after proof of enrollment has been provided.

The application includes and must be assembled in the following order:

Complete, signed “General Information” form

Two typed essays

ONE letter of recommendation from KHS faculty in a sealed envelope

ONE letter of recommendation from community member in a sealed envelope

Scholarship Process and Timeline

  • Friday, February 20All applications are due by 3:00 PM, Room 4400
  • Feb. 23 – March 6 Faculty Council reviews all applications
  • Wednesday, March 18Finalists will be notified by letter
  • Week of March 23 Finalist interviews
  • Monday, March 30Scholarship recipients will be notified by letter
