MMGC Tournaments

Details of the seven tournaments run by MMGC are as follows:

Midlands Invitational Tournament (MIT): A 3 or 4 round strokeplay tournament open to everyone, which often attracts a few guest players. This is the club’s 2nd biggest tournament of the year and one of the two MMGC Major Championships.

MIT Guest Championship: Held at the same time as the MIT and the MMGC Strokeplay Championship, this strokeplay tournament is open to any guest players who are currently not members of MMGC. For this tournament to be held, there needs to be a minimum of two guests competing.

Midlands Open: A 3 or 4 round strokeplay tournament open to everyone which has prize money for the top players. This is the club’s biggest tournament of the year and one of the two MMGC Major Championships.

MMGC Masters: A 3 round strokeplay tournament exclusive to MMGC members which runs throughout the year on three different dates and three different courses. A player’s best individual round from the MMGC Star City Classic will be added to their best score at the Midlands Open and the MIT,to give each player a three round total. The lowest total will win the tournament. If a player is unable to attend one of the dates, they will score the following: Loughborough 26, Dorridge (12 lane) 32, Bristol 43, Nottingham 44, Dorridge (18 lane) 46, Star City 46, Castleford 48, and Stratford-upon-Avon 48. Any player who attends one of the tournaments but whose rounds are equal to or more than the Absent Player Score described in the previous sentence will have their score lowered to 1 shot less than the Absent Player Score for that course.

MMGC Matchplay Championship: The only matchplay tournament run by MMGC and is exclusive to MMGC members. This tournament runs throughout the year. Although the exact format of the tournament is dependent on the number of entrants, there are always two stages to this tournament: Group Stage and Knockout Stage. All matches can be played at any course that is agreed between the two players.

MMGCStarCity Classic: This is a 3 round strokeplay tournament played at StarCity, Birmingham, and is exclusive to MMGC members. This tournament is shortly before the BMGA Star City Open, so as to help MMGC players prepare for that tournament.

MMGC Strokeplay Championship: A 3 or 4 round strokeplay tournament exclusive to MMGC members. This is played for at the same time as the MIT.

Members who wish to play in more minigolf tournaments are encouraged to play on the BMGA Tour. Details of these tournaments can be found at this link:

Members are also encouraged to arrange their own tournaments at courses near to them. MMGC will happily promote these tournaments. Please always get permission from the course owner(s) before arranging tournaments.
