Speaker: C. W. Clark of the Texas Board of Professional Engineers

Bio: The Board employed Mr. Clark in February of 2004 as an Engineering Specialist and he was promoted to Director of Compliance & Enforcement in April of 2004. In addition to the Compliance & Enforcement Division, which includes both Policy Advisories and Enforcement, he supports and interacts with the Licensing Division and other functions of the agency. While providing engineering expertise to the Board and staff, he also participates in outreach programs to educate the public and licensed engineers on engineering matters pertaining to the Engineering Practice Act.
Before joining the State of Texas, Mr. Clark worked in private industry as an Electrical Engineer with Motorola, Inc. in Austin for 21 years, and eight years with Texas Instruments in Dallas. Mr. Clark is a BSEE graduate of Southern Methodist University and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). C. W. and his wife, Jan, have two adult children and live in the Austin area. C. W. and Jan have also been active with foster parenting and over the last 28 years have had the great pleasure of fostering more than 225 infants and children.

Presentation: Mr. Clark will discuss the Texas Professional Engineering Practice Act and rules concerning the practice of engineering and professional engineering licensure. His discussion will include training requirements for maintaining your PE license. Finally, he will discuss the compliance issues and their consequence. This training will qualify for ethics continuing education credits. Continuing Education certificates will be provided at the end of the class.

Directions to El Gallo:

From I –35:

Exit at Oltorf, turn west, and continue until S. Congress Avenue. At S. Congress, turn left. El Gallo is about 500 feet past the next traffic light (Cumberland), on the right. It’s also directly across from the entrance to St. Edward’s University.

From Ben White Blvd. (US290/SH71):

Exit at S. Congress Avenue and turn north (left from 360, right from I-35). El Gallo is about 600 feet past the next traffic light (Woodward), on the left. It’s also directly across from the entrance to St. Edward’s University.

The parking lot extends beside the building from the S. Congress, and there is lots of it. Once you’ve entered the restaurant, turn left at the cashier’s counter into the party room. The bar will be available to those who care to purchase a drink or beer. In fact, there is a service window, so we don’t even have to leave the party room.

The menu will be a choice of seven meals; selection will be done at time of ordering. The meal includes tea or coffee, and dessert. Our only restriction is that we must close our program by 9 PM. For the early risers and the long drivers, this is good news!
