COMMITTEE REPORTS:

F. Hubbell—Membership

·  Reported 62 member renewals to date plus 7 new members

A. Heacox—Programs

·  Confirmed speakers to date: Sandy Dimke-Sept, Mark Tierney-Oct, Molly Isaacs-Nov, Susan Roberts, Jan. Feb-May not booked, but following leads. Members may be asked to be speakers

JM Cote—Competition/Survey

·  Themes have not been assigned to months as yet beyond October

·  Survey results were sent by email to board members this week; results will be in the September newsletter

F. Chitty for J. Parsons—Field Trips

·  Need to coordinate themes (Cote) with field trips (Parsons)

G. Fusaro—Education

·  Proposed class schedule will run Sept 29-Jan 31 and will include some Wednesday and Thursday nights as well as the regular Tuesday nights. Need to confirm schedule with OLLI

·  A Welcome to the Club party is scheduled for Oct. 20 for new/newer members. To be posted in both Sept. and Oct. newsletters to encourage participation

F. Chitty for N. Nelson—Website—no news

F. Chitty for L. O’Rourke—Publicity

·  Sent an article re Sept. speaker S. Dimke to 7 area publications

F. Chitty for K. Migliaccio—Social Media

·  Reported that Migliaccio is reviewing Shutterfly as a possibility for the Club

D. Varner—Newsletter

·  Will provide a link to the recent survey for the members to review

K. Natter—Library Exhibit

·  Deadline is Sept 9 for signing up—8 members to date

·  Limited OUTSIDE dimensions will be 18”x24”. May ask for extra photos from church exhibit; $5 hanging fee will apply

·  One photo will be chosen for the advertising poster

·  It will be up to the entrant whether to replace a sold photo

F. Chitty for J. Parsons—Coastal Discovery Museum Exhibit

·  $1200 reported in sales from the last exhibit

B. Schmitt—Community Relations

·  6 Movies/Documentaries re photographers were shown this summer; attendee numbers were disappointing with 10 being the most

·  Reported being interviewed by the HHI Arts Venue Committee and proposed a community usage building similar to one in Camden, SC as opposed to a performance center

·  Reported on a fact-finding trip to Wilson, NC to learn of the “Save a Youth Program”, a joint effort by students of Columbia College in Chicago and Canon, who loaned 30 cameras to 117 Wilson kids

·  The town of Wilson also has displayed 100 photos for two years on the outside of buildings Feb-June. Suggested that the Wilson organizer of these projects be approached as a possible Club speaker next year

·  Reported that Heroes on Horseback is requesting photographers for their Kentucky Derby Party next year, an opportunity for Club Members

·  Reported CCHHI website is being updated

·  Lightroom Users Group will be held September 12, not Labor Day

K. Natter—Kurtzburg Awards

·  Will meet with school to give/get an update on the program

·  March 1 photos to be picked up from school, winners announced April 1

·  3-4 Club volunteers will judge the photos the first week of March

·  Budgeted amount this year is $550--$450 for awards, $100 for expenses

·  Chitty requested a mission statement re the Awards be sent to Board Members for review prior to follow up discussion on whether or not to solicit “outside” donations to enhance the value of the program

S. Huisman—Budget

·  Anticipated income is $10K for the coming year

·  Expenses are estimated to be $11K; $1260 of which are speaker fees

·  $4875 is the current balance

DISCISSION TOPICS

·  OLLI keys will be limited to 3 (Fusaro, Schmitt, Heacox as per OLLI

·  Discussed moving Board Meeting to 10 am Thursday—to be confirmed with OLLI

·  OLLI classroom needs additional photos from members

·  HHI Book from Lydia Inglett Publishing has been delayed until Spring 2017 due to Lydia’s recent car accident

·  Bryan Peterson presentation in January 2017 at Sun City will be a joint effort of 3 camera clubs with the Beaufort Club organizing it.

Based on an affirmative vote of 6-2 Executive Board Members, CCHHI will contribute $350 to support this presentation

·  PSA renewal needs updating; Heacox to provide information to Huisman

·  Next Board Meeting is Thursday, September 15, at 2 pm
