Ancient Art of Calligraphy, 2015 Style. Our Japanese teacher would like bottles of Japanese / Chinese calligraphy ink to use for class projects. Available at Uwajimaya, this will keep our students practicing their writing. Contact Joshua Hansell @ 252-8630 or .

Atoms, and Science, and Colors—Oh, My! In science class, students use boxes filled with art supplies that he them add colors to diagrams and help that learning stick. College Bound Reading, Please! Our senior language arts teacher would like updated versions—think 2015 and newer—of books about going to college. Titles could include Fiske Guide to Colleges, the College Board’s Scholarship Handbook, or the Princeton Review’s Best Value Colleges. Reading about going is half the battle! Feed the Body, Feed the Brain. Room 273 is in need of food and drinks to fuel our brains. Often a warm cup of tea is enough to turn the brain back on and focus. Our students would love tea, popcorn, cup of noodles, hot chocolate, hot cider, sugar, eco-friendly cups, ceramic mugs, silverware, paper towels, Kleenex, small garbage sacks, dish soap, anti-bacterial wipes, granola bars, instant oatmeal or other consumables that activate with hot water or a microwave, M&Ms, Skittles, and jelly beans. Graphing Calculators! Our math department would LOVE enough Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Silver Edition “Yellow School Bus” calculators to have all math classrooms equipped with classroom sets (32 each). We need 165 more calculators if we are to achieve our goal. They go a long way in helping our students succeed. Buy one! Buy a bunch!! They are a big ticket item, so any help is appreciated. Science Supplies Needed! Science needs stuff. Lots of stuff. Our science teacher would be pleased as punch to fill these wishes to round out her classroom needs for the year: 16 meter sticks (the wooden variety we used to call yardsticks), Ziploc baggies (in sandwich, quart, and gallon sizes), straws, matches, blue painters’ tape, clear packing tape, aluminum foil, clear plastic wrap, poster sized Post-it pads, and a shoe/calculator storage holder with clear pockets for 32. Smile For the Camera!Digital Photography and Yearbook classes are filled with awesome students, but not all of them can afford a digital camera. “Target” Those Utensils! Our special education students have a classroom kitchen where lots of life learning happens. This space is woefully short on supplies like cups and silverware (especially forks). We All Need a Little Incentive! Our school Social Worker hopes to help change student patterns of behavior and attendance with some incentives to keep students on track and moving forward. Gift cards in $5, $10, or $20 denominations to Target and Safeway or movie tickets go a l-o-n-g way for student motivation.
