Marketing Research

Prerequisites

MKT 3300.

Description

This course examines the foundational role of research to the formulation of sound strategic marketing decisions. Topics focus on problem definition, research design, data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation. The systematic approach of harnessing data/information to drive effective marketing decision-making is also considered.

Objectives

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the marketing research process and various types of marketing research.
  2. Explain the role of marketing research in marketing management decision-making.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of ethical issues inherent to marketing research.
  4. Apply marketing research theories and concepts to the solution of marketing problems.

Purpose

To foster an understanding of the importance of research in making strategic marketing decisions and to familiarize students with the concepts and methods employed for marketing research. Marketing concentration requirement.

Required Activity

This course must contain a student engagement activity with the community that relates to course content. The activity may include guest speakers, site visits, projects for the community/industry, etc.
