The agony and the ecstasy of it all … if only we could TRULY know the thoughts of God.
I spent last Wednesday at a Catholic high school lecturing young people about THE BODY, MIND AND SOUL. I was ecstatic witnessing the lights coming on in their minds but I also agonized over the few I knew were doing some real soul searching.
One young person was in tears and so filled with fear because a best friend had committed suicide last year and as far as the Catholic Church taught, “She is in hell.” The young student attending my presentation has been dreaming of her and is scared. “My life is changing, my studies, my personality. I don’t know what to think or what to do. Is my friend really in hell? Is she trying to drag me there? I’m scared.”
Another student in the same class told me he was suicidal and repeated it on his feedback sheet adding, “I need help.”
I KNOW the hell on earth thesetwo are going through. I was suicidal most of my life and the possibility of ending up in hell did not deter me much. It couldn’t be much worse that the life I was living.
I now know differently and also know that everything I experienced has prepared me to help these young ones.I know how I can help these young people if I given the opportunity.
I called the school counsellor about the one who admitted to being suicidal and immediately knew I was treading on ‘private property.’ I could sense the counsellor feeling threatened and becoming territorial. I could understand that. Who was I? I was an unknown invited in by the students as part of their assignment.
I have had a great deal of experience with all aspects of suicide know I can help BUT it is in now God’s hands. Each child has my number. One has made contact and we are to meet. Unfortunately, the one who is presently suicidal has not and I must trust in the powers that be.
Does one go to hell for committing suicide?
I believe we are all atoms in the body of God and that God loves every single atom equally. I believe there is a hell like place a suicide goes to BUT it is my firm belief that EVERYONE is going to go HOME when the time comes, because God loves all parts of Self.
It’s amazing, when I ask little kids who God loves most - the abused infant, the good mother or the killer - they all say, “All of them are loved the same.” Whenever I’ve asked adults the same question, they all say the abused infant.
