The meeting at the Fort Boreman Meeting Room at the Judge Black Courthouse Annex was called to order by Chairman Doug Hess at 12:07 PM. Also attending were: Ken Harris, Dot Harris, Tim Pingley, Keith Roberts, Jim Rose, Judy Ashcraft, Earl Totten, Larry Stephens, Eric Bucklin, Randy Lowe, Terry Moore, Danny Marcum, Wendy Tuck, Don Dougherty, Ed Hupp, Arnie Green, Kimberly Dixon, Wayne Dunn, Roberta Cox, Rick Woodyard and Steve Stephens.

Grant Committee

Wendy Tuck updated the Committee on grants. The Volunteer Action Center coordinated a meeting at Stout Memorial regarding volunteer mobilization. A citizens forum was held at the Civil Air Patrol building. She said that the CAP Building is an asset to the community. The DVD geared to help retail outlets during a mass evacuation event is complete and 200 copies will be made to distribute in the community.

New Business

Judy Ashcraft was introduced as having taken Martha Lamp’s position at the MOVHD. Arnie made a motion to nominate Judy to the LEPC. Wendy seconded the motion which passed unanimously.

Kenny made a motion to approve funding Judy’s attendance at the National Conference on Community Preparedness in Arlington, VA. Steve Stephens seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Judy had to leave the meeting early but expressed her appreciation for the opportunity of serving on the Committee as well as attending the Conference. She also plans to serve on the Animal Committee.

Other Business

Jeff Harvey of JH Consulting presented his company’s approach to staging exercises. He discussed the steps from planning meetings to after action reports. He will provide a written proposal and be available by phone for questions during a special meeting to be held Tuesday, July 28 at the 9-1-1 Center. Final approval to hire a firm to conduct a drill will be made.

Doug asked for volunteers to form a new grant committee. Jim Rose, Wendy Tuck and Wayne Dunn will serve.

LEPC participation in the Homecoming Parade was discussed. Jim will see about pulling the animal trailers and also suggested that the banners needed updated or replaced.

Jim introduced Danny Marcum, Program Director for Air Evac. Terry Moore made a motion to recommend Danny for committee membership. Jim seconded the motion which passed unanimously.

Tim announced some Allegheny Power interruptions affecting around 7000 homes on Sunday.

Ed mentioned that a Public Information Officer class will be held at North Bend in September

Dr. Dunn said that the Mission of Mercy Dental Clinic will be held this weekend.

The meeting was adjourned at 1 PM
