TENDERS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF:

The Ministry of Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early Education has received funds from the Government of the Republic of Zambia and Co-operating Partners under the National Implementation Framework (NIF). It is intended that part of these funds be used for eligible payments under the contracts for the construction of 10No. Staff Houses, 1No. Lecture Theatre, 2No. Lecture Rooms, 2No. Student Hostels, and Ancillary Works at Nkrumah University in Kabwe, Central Province, Mukuba University in Kitwe District, Copperbelt Province and Chalimbana University in Chongwe District, Lusaka Province for which this invitation for bids is issued.
The Ministry of Education Science, Vocational Training and Early Education now invites
sealed bids from eligible bidders registered in Zambia with the National Council for Construction
(NCC) in Category B, Grade 1 or the equivalent for foreign bidders for the construction of
10No. Staff Houses, 1No. Lecture Theatre, 2No. Lecture Rooms, 2No. Student Hostels, and
Ancillary Works at the three respective universities named below:
1. Nkrumah University in Kabwe, Central Province – MOESVTEE/INFRA/036/12
2. Mukuba University in Kitwe District, Copperbelt Province– MOESVTEE/INFRA/037/12
3. Chalimbana University in Chongwe District, Lusaka Province – MOESVTEE/INFRA/038/12
Note that each tender listed above is a separate tender despite being invited jointly.
The tenders will be conducted through International Open Bidding procedures and eligible
bidders are free to participate.
Foreign contractors are required to partner with Zambian contractors in line with the National
Council for Construction Act No.13 of 2003.
Prospective bidders may view the solicitation documents at the Ministry of Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early Education Headquarters, Room GO13, ground floor, main building, corner of Mogadishu/Chimanga Roads, P.O Box 50093, Lusaka. A complete set of solicitation documents may be purchased by interested bidders upon payment of a non-refundable fee of K1,000,000.00 (for each university) in cash or by bank certified cheque.

The bids, in sealed envelopes and accompanied by a bid security of not less than 2% of the
bid sum (for each separate tender) duly signed and sealed by the Guarantors must be deposited
in the tender box on the 2nd floor, Ministry of Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early
Education Headquarters, Main Building, corner of Mogadishu/Chimanga Roads, P.O Box 50093,
Lusaka, on or before Friday 16th November 2012 at 14:30 hours local time. The bids
should be sealed and clearly marked e.g “MOESVTEE/INFRA/036/12 – Tender for the
Construction of 10No. Staff Houses, 1No. Lecture Theatre, 2No. Lecture Rooms, 2No.
Student Hostels, and Ancillary Works at Nkrumah University in Kabwe, Central
Province”.
The closing date for the receipt of bids is Friday 16th November, 2012 at 14:30 hours local time. The Bids shall be opened immediately thereafter in the Conference Room of the Ministry of Education on the 2nd floor, Main Building, in the presence of bidders or their representatives who choose to attend. LATE BIDS SHALL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
