Position Objective

TheHuman Resources Assistant (HR Assistant) is responsible for providing high level administrative support and assisting with the implementation of human resources procedures, workflows and policies. The key purpose of the position is to deliver an effective and efficient HR service, and assist with HR projects and initiatives across the organisation.

Role Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Assisting managers with end to end recruitment;
  • Managing the employment offer, onboarding, and induction processes;
  • Providing administration and maintenance of the Human Resources Information System (bambooHR) including the management of employee files throughout the employee lifecycle;
  • Co-ordinating the annual performance and development review process;
  • Co-ordinating the probationary review system;
  • Managing the student placement and volunteer placement programs;
  • Assisting with the development of HR policies, procedures, forms and relevant information materials in accordance to the current legislative requirements;
  • Assisting with Return to Work administration;
  • Managing the administration of the OHV training calendar, including the event management of training courses;
  • Assisting with the administration and processes relating to the University Graduate program
  • Assisting the HR Managers with employee relations matters;
  • Providing support to the HR Managers on projects; and
  • Assisting with the management and administration of the OHV Occupational Health & Safety System.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Relevant Human Resources related qualification and experience
  2. Experience in providing high quality human resource management administration and assistance.
  3. Strong organisational and highly developed communication skills (both verbal and written), with a consultative, ‘can do’ approach to addressing issues.
  4. Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  5. An understanding of HR frameworks and relevant legislation.
  6. A passion for HR done well.
  7. Ability to take initiative and approach tasks in an innovative, facilitative and flexible way.
  8. Attention to detail, with the ability to ‘get the job done’.
  9. A great sense of humour!

Essential Requirements

  • Satisfactory outcome of a confidential Police Check and Working with Children Check. OHV is committed to child safety and is a child safe organisation.
  • Empathy for those whose lives have been affected by problematic alcohol and other drug use/ and or mental health disorders.
  • Possession of a current Victorian Driver’s License.
  • Information technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.

Desirable Requirements

  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Current knowledge of OH&S practices.
